WOW!
This doesn’t just work... it works exceptionally well! I like my canvas surfaces very smooth. The old way of applying gesso with a paintbrush (and sometimes a wide putty knife), letting it dry and then sanding... then repeating those steps multiple times to get the finish I want was always time consuming, frustrating and the thing I dreaded about getting ready to paint. Not anymore now that I have this GessoMagic tool. I put a dollop of gesso on my canvases then use the GessoMagic tool and spread and smooth the gesso around and into the canvas weave. When the gesso is dry all that is needed is a very light sanding with extra fine grit sandpaper for a beautifully smooth surface. So simple to use and such fantastic results! Unprimed or some cheaper previously primed canvases with bad weave will need more than one coat of gesso, but it’s no longer a big deal to do when using this tool. Also, very little gesso is used compared to when using a paintbrush or putty knife. Clean up is super easy! I LOVE THIS TOOL! I wish I had more canvases that needed gessoing!

Great for applying gesso
I cannot be happier with this ingenious product. I use this with my paint-by-number canvases and clear gesso. The application is much smoother and more thorough than using a brush. You don't waste gesso because it's not absorbed into the silicone. This would work great with white gesso too. You can easily fill the divets in the canvas for a smooth surface, and the silicone material makes it very flexible. Clean-up is is a snap because you don't have bristles to clean. Highly recommended!

A revolutionary artists tool, but with one (small?) flaw...
I received my set of magic Silibrushes and they are wonderful! Except for the leftover flashing on most of the back edge of the large one. A little bit of a quality control problem there. The smaller ones do not have this problem, but the larger one does, which means that when I use it I get lines and ridges no matter what side of the silibrush I use.So I thought, "ok, no problem I will just trim it off that extra flashing and be good to go."I did, and now I can't figure out now to seal the edge smooth again. It feels sticky and I'm concerned that gesso or paint will get stuck in it and discolour it.I'd appreciate some help. How to seal the cut edge? I've tried sanding it with a fine emery board, but that didn't help. The edge is still sticky. Could the creators of this tool, or anyone else who has this problem, please give me an idea of how to fix it so it's smooth again?

Accurately represented and works just great!
I just used one of my Gesso Magic Silibrushes for the first time, and it worked like a charm! It took WAY LESS TIME to apply the gesso, and I used so LITTLE gesso compared to how much I would have had to use with a brush. The photos of the Silibrush are accurate, even with the dimensions given. You can hold it with 2 or 3 fingers and only get a little on your thumb, or not at all, once you become accustomed to applying very little gesso to the canvas surface. It only took me 5 minutes to gesso 7 medium canvasses. That would never happen with a brush because I would be worried about lines in the surface; with Silibrush, there are few lines, and those are where the strokes overlapped, but they are very fine because of the small amount of gesso used.I always sand my gessoed canvasses, too, so they will end up being slick and smooth. I really love my Silibrush, and if you've been led to believe that the photos are not correct by another reviewer, then please understand that those reviewers are wrong. For some reason, they didn't see the photo of the actual Silibrush in the hand, or the the photo with the measurements given. AND they mistook the glob of white gesso for a handle. The Silibrush is easier to manage than a brush, quicker to use, and easier to clean. I'll be introducing my fellow art students to it very soon.

Small but decent addition to art supplies...
I found the size to be small. These seems to be like a silicone eye patch re-purposed but glad to support another artist with a decent idea. In my journal painting I cannot quite get as smooth of a surface as I thought this would provide i still have "brush strokes". It also should be rinsed as soon as possible after applying gesso as the gesso tends to stick on the edges so just be aware if you get busy with your art piece it might be hard to get the gesso or paint off. I am wondering if one just purchased the silicone bra inserts if one would have a better surface and handle? All in all it this is a good addition to my art accessories.

A surprise really!
I happened across this little tool while looking for something else. I bought it not really expecting much, but I was very happy with the results. I hate applying gesso to pages or panels. It gums up the brushes and is hard to clean out of the brushes and leaves brush strokes. This applicator was great. I put a little gesso on the pages and it was smoothed over the page easily, quickly, and without having to add more gesso. It cleaned up with a wipe on my apron. Two came in the pack and I will be using it again. Thinking I may try the paint on the page with one of them next and see how that goes. You would need a bigger one of these if doing larger canvases. Not sure if there are bigger ones. But it would be nice if there were.

Product NOT as pictured & therefore WAY overpriced!
Really? For $10.99 I received 2 very small pieces of silicone (see photo). Each piece measures approx 1.5" x 2". The pieces I received don't have the little white handle as shown in the photos...just 2 plain pieces of silicone & no way to grip them. Why are listings allowed that totally misrepresent the product with inaccurate photos????? Plus, I could buy 2 pieces of silicone that are 3x the size of these for half the price from Dr. Scholl's in the form of shoe/heal pads & they'd do exactly what these are supposed to do!Also I purchased these because I am looking for a way to spread glossy water-proofing liquid (mod podge) over labels without getting lines in the glossy coating. These sounded promising, but I ended up with almost as many lines using these to smooth the liquid as I did with a soft nylon brush. Total disappointment...definite return!
