As the instrument is much lighter and smaller than a Bb clarinet, finger stretches are shorter, and the tone holes are smaller. The fingering is the same as a standard Bb clarinet, so the transition is quick and easy once the student is ready. The Clarineo has a rich mellow tone like a traditional clarinet, and a full chromatic range of 3.5 octaves – enough for Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto! Overall well made easy to use easy to clean and a nice size to store. ### ⭐ Utter garbage (plus wrong colour and no English instructions)! *by K***N on 28 January 2024* I have played reed instruments for over 35 years. Purchased for nieces and nephews as a 'pre clarinet' which is what it is pitched as. First off, sent a pink and white when I ordered black (pink wasn't even available at the time). No instructions in English (care, cleaning, maintenance), just other European languages. I can't rule out being sent a faulty one, but have not struggled to get a note out of a reed instrument like this since I was 11! Tried both the plastic reed and traditional bamboo. Even picked up my real clarinet to make sure I hadn't suddenly forgotten how to blow! Even when I did get a note, it was extremely hard work. Hardly the stepping stone to a real clarinet.
