Samsung Galaxy S10 For Dummies

WORTHLESS
I only purchased this book because it was the only one available at this time (the Galaxy is still pretty new on the market) but found it to be of little use. Previously, I had bought the book "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Dummies" by Dan Gookin which was excellent, so I decided to go with this "Dummies book." A mistake. You can get more useful information on the Web than from this worthless book, which is even printed on paper so cheap that notes written or highlighted on one page show through the page on the other side. Save your money until a better book is written.I am very disappointed with John Wiley & Sons, the publisher of Dummies books. Do not buy this book.

Good walk through of the basic stuff
My S10 replaced an S4 which I really never spent time to study. I just learned whatever I needed to use what I needed. When I got my S10 I decided to actually read the S10 Dummy Guide. It is very useful introducing you to all of the features of the phone. For that I give it high marks. But it is not a good guide for finding useful features that may or may not be there. For example, where do you go the lengthen the screen timeout, can you set it to always on? I had to find someone who knew about this feature to find out how to use it. (By the way: Settings/Display/Screen timeout/10 minutes max.) In the old days of computer manuals there was always an appendix that gave a map of the application menus. The Dummy Guides could really use that.

Save your money.
More info on Internet and you tube than this book has to offer.

Turns out, I'm NOT a Dummy
After years of Pixels, I switched to a Galaxy S10.Bought this before the phone even arrived. Why? I didn't have enough confidence in the phone, and in myself. This book is great if you learn by reading instead of hands-on doing. And it does have a lot of information. The S10 is more intuitive and user-friendly than expected, and my own skill is better as well.It will be an important tool if you don't like to search online, as I do.

I love books for Dummies, maybe because I am one when it comes to technology
Very well written for a normal person to understand.

Great manual, should have bought it long ago
Great book. Printed in terms that old "dummies" can relate to and understand. Helped my wife a lot with her frustration when trying to use her Galaxy S10. Now she likes her phone since she is starting to understand it.

Just reduced my rating to one star.
There's some useful information, but the book is disorganized and a lot of information seems to be missing. The reason I reduced my rating from three stars to one star is because I've been trying to synch my outlook calendar with the calendar on the phone. The phone does not respond the way the book says, rendering the book completely useless in this respect.

Useful for Smartphone Novices
As someone unfamiliar with smartphones, this was the right book for me. It gave me the basic information I need, explained in an easy to read way. It provided a lot of useful details that I would have missed if I had ploughed straight into the Samsung User Guide. Having read this book, I now feel confident to go to the User Guide for points of detail.Out of interest, I have a Samsung Galaxy A20e, but I could not find a book dedicated to this, and over 90% of the Galaxy S10 book was relevant. The one thing I found grating was the constant presentation of the S10 in the most glowing of terms, to the point of exaggeration (has it really confined digital cameras to the scrapheap?). Other Dummies books I have read give a more balanced presentation of their subject matter.

Useful book!
As I am a complete novice on smartphones, I found the Samsung manual a bit heavy going. I found the book to be a great help in getting started. It is clearly written and gives a great introduction. Of course it is not a fully comprehensive reference manual and cannot be expected to cover everything.

Don’t buy it.
I ordered this as the downloaded instructions are over 220 printed pages. I thought the book would be better, I was wrong. Many of the instructions in the book you do and look at the screen and it is like they are for another phone. Waste of money
