Like everything else, VP is now selling junk.
I've used VP fuel cans since I started riding MX in the late 90's. They were always well made. I even still have an old red one, probably 12-15 years old that is so faded it looks pink but it still holds fuel and works as needed. I bought one of these Patriotic cans earlier this year and I must say I am not impressed. The fill hose arrived hard as a rock and within a month was pinched flat where the hose meets the spout and folded over, making it impossible to pour through. Another 2 months in, I noticed fuel leaking all over my garage floor. Upon closer inspection the seam in the plastic had split open on the lower 1/3 of the can. I understand there can be manufacturing anomalies but in this case, I am convinced VP is doing nothing more than selling junk with no quality control. The reason I think this is the pathetic response from VP's warranty claims department. I have been going back and fourth with them for a month now and they still wont refund me or send a replacement. I started off by sending a picture of the leaking seam. Then they wanted pictures of every angle of the can (EVERY ANGLE- top, bottom, all 4 sides, angled, etc..) including closeups of the microscopic date stamps and other marking. Then they wanted to inform me of the ridiculous EPA crap they are bound by and that I am not allowed to store fuel in the fuel container they sold me. Then they asked for even more pictures of the split seam. At this point I have submitted dozens of photos and had to follow up on the emails including pictures to remind them that I am waiting for a response. It is truly pathetic and I hope anyone reading this will be smart enough to look elsewhere for a decent fuel can, because VP isn't selling them anymore. And of all things, they call this a "Patriotic" racing can with USA theme colors. This reminds me more of the JUNK being sold out of the people's republic of CHYNA. Extremely disappointed in this junk.
