Simple design - learning curve to use
I ended up being happy with this purchase, but there is definitely a learning curve to using it. I originally placed my cutter on a sewing cutting mat. This is usually a great idea, but in this case it was not. The blade needs something to sink into. A piece of cardboard without creases works well... at creases it is easy to get a crooked cut. The straight cut requires a low profile straight edge because the blade button sticks out pretty far and goes down close to the mat. I used a higher straight edge on the beveled cut than i did on the straight cut. I also clamped my work down to the table so that it would not move...this proved to be a priceless idea because it is pretty easy to get a crooked cut (as with any small simple cutting device). Overall I am very pleased. I practiced a lot before doing my beveled cut for my matting... word of warning: be very careful in the corners. If you need to cut more pin it down again; dont attempt freehand small cuts.

Decent Mat Cutter with a Learning Curve โ Works, but Not Perfect
This Weishidai 45ยฐ & 90ยฐ bevel mat board cutter does what itโs supposed to do, but it definitely takes some practice to get consistent results. Once you figure it out, it can produce clean bevel cuts, and having both 45 and 90 degree options is useful for framing projects. That said, itโs not the easiest tool to use right away. It can be a bit tricky to control, and getting perfectly straight, precise cuts every time isnโt always consistent. The plastic construction also makes it feel a little less stable than higher-end cutters, and I noticed I had to go slowly and carefully to avoid mistakes. The included replacement blades are a nice bonus, and for light hobby or occasional framing work, it gets the job done. However, if you need very professional, high-precision results regularly, you might find yourself wanting something sturdier. Overall, itโs an okay tool for the priceโfunctional, but with a bit of a learning curve and some limitations in accuracy and build quality.

china's finest garbage
this is a piece of crap...the 90 degree blade does not hold true and your cuts will show it as a line that looks as if you cut it with an exacto knife freehand after drinking a 12 pack in 30 minutes. if that doesn't make sense, try my example and see what you come out with. avoid at all costs. this item probably cost 13 cents to manufacture and I paid over 20 dollars. learn from my mistake and look for a metal housing or maybe even an American made item?

Not for easy use.
I got this small version because of the price and because I was just going to do a few pictures. But is much harder to use than I thought. You have to use it free hand or with a ruler. The cut is offset so the chances of getting the cut in the right place is about 50/50 at best. That means a lot of expensive wasted matte board. Not to mention the frustration [well, I just mentioned it.] This cutter might be good for a big table with board clamps, but if I had that space I would have bought a big cutter. I think this item might be good for someone who is set up to use it. But for the part time user, NO.

Does pretty good at matt cutting
Overall the device works pretty good be aware it is made of plastic and there is a little movement in the blade but slow and easy will result in a good straight cut, Nice it has 45ยฐ and 90ยฐ bevels.

Good product - I'd recommend it
Easy enough to use - just make sure you practice a lot before doing the real thing. You really have to make sure the straight edge of the cutter stays against your straight edge. It's easy to get going fast and have it veer away from the straight edge. Great price for the product. Saves you a ton of money instead of paying for a custom mat at Michael's or some place similar.

Didn't work for me
I bought this hoping to cut a mat board for a project. It was easy to use and pretty nicely designed, but as other mentioned the blade bends. As you make your first puncture in your mat the cut will be curved and may even tear the paper. Then as you slide the blade down the blade does bend quite often, making it nearly impossible to get a straight cut. I bought some scrap boards to practice on and even after about 20 tries I couldn't get a single straight cut.
