It is getting a little smooshed, but the benefit far outweighs this. I read the instructions and by actually drying this flipped onto its back, there has not been the first sign of mold or mildew in this brush and I use it several times a week since I bought it a couple of months ago. I thought I liked my previous vegetable brush by a big name brand, but its plastic bristles and base that the bristles fit into helped make that orange mildew form at the base of the bristles almost constantly--dish detergent every time would not help so had to throw it out. Highly recommend this brush!
