It was just one leaf. I've had it for several years. It is growing very well but, has yet to bloom (which is not unusual for our area). **Q: Is this an outdoors plant?** A: I'm sure it is an outdoor plant somewhere but definitely not in Montana where I live. You might want to do some research on this plant before you attempt to plant it outside. **Q: I would really like proper rooting of this plant for adequate growth** A: Pieces of a leaf of this will root, but whether in (Zone 10b, So FL) in a large pot outdoors in part sun, or on a porch with indirect light, it's not a fast grower. It likes well-drained soil in a deep pot, but do not allow it to dry out. (I seem to have better luck growing it on an east-facing bright to sunny windowsill as a bonsai {in a 3.5" pot using clay stones or river rocks as mulch}. Time will tell.) It does better in good soil (the local sand we affectionately refer to as "soil") amended with Coast of Maine topsoil). Its heavy flowers will drop before blooming if the soil isn't kept moist of the plant is in full sun all day - here anyway. **Q: how can i be sure its going to be red?
