Works great so far. Although it can fire incredibly fast continuously, I wouldn't do this for a game like Terminator 2 as these smaller solenoids are unlikely to handle the heat from non stop fast rapid kicking. Review: Not even close to its rated current draw - This solenoid is rated at 12V 300 mA - heck, it even has a label to that effect tuck on the side. Actually, though, it draws almost exactly 1 amp, which is 12 watts - at that power level it heats up very quickly. To be fair, the seller does state that it should only be energized for two seconds at a time, which is actually quite conservative even at this much higher power draw, but it would have been nice to know the actual specifications when purchased. Besides that issue, this solenoid is OK-ish, hence the three stars. It provides a reasonable amount of force for its size (not surprising, considering the current draw), and having the armature retained so that it can't fall out is a handy feature. Mounting is a bit of a hassle, since there are just two M3 holes on one side of the housing; to mount it, you must drill two accurately-spaced holes through whatever it's being mounted on, then hunt down a couple of M3 screws of exactly the right length (very little tolerance - within 1/8"). The armature moves smoothly, but even a little side load will cause it to jam. At 12ohms resistance and 12volt supply this will draw a full 1Amp. Therefore if running this at a pulse width modulation, you'll need to use a MOSFET and not a basic transistor. I was hoping it actually was going to be lower amperage and draw. Going to try using a current limiting resistor but I'm not sure it will work.
