I'm not sure why I took it off of her the first time but the second time I put it back on her the whining stopped, the need for constant attention stopped, the running to the front window and barking excessively every time the notification went off that someone was in the vacinity of the house stopped. It was like a totally different Dalmatian. It lasted for nearly 30 days but I'd say some of that had to do with taking it off and storing it for so long. I bought this 3 pack and put a new one on her when the other one seemed to stop working. The collar is easy to use and is adjustable to fit virtually any dog since it can be cut to fit. The 3 pack is a great value for the money (because I'm sure I paid a lot more at the pet store for one). It's a beautiful light purple color and smells wonderful! The collar flaking will not make the collar less effective. **Q: How do you put it on dog** A: Measure your dog's neck, and then measure how much of the collar you'll need. Cut the collar (it's made of rubber) to the size you need and leave a few extra inches on to be able to loop through the plastic buckle. Slurping, licking her nose, constant noise when she was awake. She sits next to me or behind me on the sofa. I had to wear ear muffs all the time.
