At the very least, there should be less expensive 1 Gb SFP modules if that is all your hardware supports. **Q: How to setup with udm pro for > 1gbe?** A: I am using this to create a 2.5 Gbps connection between my UniFi Pro switch’s SFP+ port and my desktop gaming computer that has a 2.5G wired port. Note that UniFi’s support for NBaseT (connections over 1Gbps) is limited, so the switch reports it as 10Gbps, but the computer knows the connection is 2.5Gbps. I am not using this directly on the UDM Pro because there is only a single SFP+ LAN port on the UDM Pro and I am using that for a 10 Gbps DAC connection the Pro Switch. Note that I got this because it was highly rated on Serve The Home and it supports 2.5 and 5 Gbps connections which the UniFi model does not, or at least did not back when I was buying. And at half the price of the equivalent Ubiquiti model, I'm not complaining. 5 stars! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ubiquiti UDR7 - Success! *by S***P on July 25, 2025* I have a Ubiquiti UDR7 (it looks like R2D2) and it had an SFP+ port. I have never seen that on a "residential" device outside a data center, so I have never used one before. I had to dig in and do some figuring out because I heard the UDR7 runs "better" when using the SPF WAN compared to the RJ45 WAN port. The first thing I discovered is the often mentioned HEAT these can put out and that I should find a lower power consumption version to reduce that heat, and that's how I found this one. I am not bypassing anything that ATT provided me....yet.....So there is a ~1 foot cable going from the ATT box to my UDR7, so I can't tell you about the 30M claim, because I've just got a short patch cable in there. It took me some fiddling to get it to work, again because I am not a dedicated networking IT guy, but it is up now and stable. The UDR7 recognizes it as a 10GBE connection, but I am only passing 1GBE symmetrical internet over it and it figured that out without issues. My speed tests are slightly better than they were before but within a margin of about 1-2% better. Be sure if you're a novice that you know which way this thing inserts, be gentle so you don't ruin anything. I plugged it in wrong the first time. We are 1 week and it is stable. At this price, it was an easy decision to try it out and the quality seems to exceed my expectations. I was able to convert the RJ45 WAN port into a LAN Port so I have an extra 2.5GBE port to use for other activities. So overall, it fit into my UDR7 exactly the way it should, it has been stable for a week and the temperatures haven't gone past 62C in a closet, in the summertime.
