If you like MS office, this is an easy way to purchase it and stay current
Office is what it is, which is to say it is a good effort at doing a lot of pretty important stuff. The switch from Office 2010 was easy, with none of the gotcha's that often occur during an update. The new delivery mode -- subscription, rather than purchase a product -- was uneventful, which is as it should be. Is helpful that a "free" version is available for the iPad/iPhone, and I've had no difficulty transferring data between the two platforms without losing formatting and such. IOS support for my iPad is adequate, and is somewhat better with the recent upgrade (11/6/2014). By "adequate" I mean the following: it is not nearly as robust an interface as you get with the Windows version. I particularly miss being able to use keystroke combinations rather than click-and-point. Hopefully that capability will carry over in the next upgrade. That being said, I don't do heavy-duty work on my iPad, and the IOS functionality is good enough for note taking using Word, for viewing PowerPoint displays, and so forth . In other words, it is fine for consuming information, but is limited in its ability to easily create it. Comparing individual apps in Office to the ones that come from Apple, my conclusion is that the Office apps have greater functionality but the ones from Apple are, no surprise here, more elegant. Upgrades come smoothly via the web. I think the subscription model will be useful for me.

Easy to use and you get many products with your subscription
I have always used Microsoft Office products and when they switched over to the subscription based approach, I wasn't sure if I would like that. Well it turns out that it's not so bad as you always stay up to date. If you like the idea of just buying it once then this isn't for you. They still sell it so that you can install it on one PC (or tablet) so you would have to buy it for every device. The subscription based version has a one PC/Tablet or 5 PC/Tablet option. As far as the products included, they have thus far worked just as expected.

What is all the squawking about?
Office 365 is not software; it is a method of financing access to the latest Office products. Many of the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews seem to lack an understanding of that. To review the software here is inappropriate. That should be done by reviewing Office 2103, which is what you will get if you buy the Office 365 plan today. The promotional material could not be more clear that it is a subscription. So, if you don't like the subscription idea, don't buy it. You can stay with an older version of Office as long as you like, though it may in the long run become unsupported and you won't have any new features, or pay big one time bucks to periodically purchase what you need. (So far I like Office 2013, but will review that separately where it belongs.) I had been buying Office using Office Home and Student as a base and purchasing Outlook and Publisher separately. For what I do this seems a good deal at the current price. Buying the personal key card I got use of Office 2013 for my primary desktop, and a mobile device, which I probably won't use, for a year at about 1/8 the cost of purchasing the software outright. Would I have stayed with purchased software for more than 8 years? Unlikely. I will now always have the latest version of the applications that I regularly use, which is all but Access, plus I have Access if I ever need it. For me the download and install went easily and I like the new products, although I would like to have had the option not to install Access. Admittedly, I didn't have to try to go to Microsoft for help. So the source of purchase wasn't an issue, although by report it may have been for others, I also have a fast computer with high quality Internet service, so those aren't issues, although I find that the 2013 applications seem to run faster than 2007 from which I upgraded. If you have poor Internet service perhaps the One Drive cloud thing, which I will not use, could be a problem; I don't know. I have given only four stars because I don't have long experience with the Office 365 plan, nor does anyone else. The big question is, what will it cost to renew a year from now? If it's somewhere in the range of what I paid initially that will be ok. If it doubles or triples in price, not so, and I'll go back to what I had, or gradually purchase upgrades as in the past.. We shall see.

Cheaper than buying direct from Microsoft. Much better than free open-source alternatives
It's strange but it costs a bit less to buy the card, have them mail the card to you then it does to buy the subscription directly from Microsoft website. Office 365 is the cheapest way to get online storage and for many years I used LibreOffice/OpenOffice but Microsoft has so improved their products that I decided the switch made sense because I was a lot more productive and they've really given thought to how things are laid out and I think it's a lot better than the free software. So that combined with the online storage make it a no-brainer for me. For a modest amount more you can get the family version which I think has 4x the amount of storage and allows installation on multiple computers.

My best advice ... be prepared for some surprises ...
This is a fairly simple software purchase ... in my case, one Office 365 license, to be installed and activated on one device ... sounds simple ....until you install it ... activate it ... then use it for a while ... say for just past the Amazon 30-day return window ... and after most folks would have already posted their glowing, 'no problems at all here' reviews. Because it is at this exact point, after a month of using your Office 365 software that you instead start getting messages saying that you have installed this software on more than the allowed number of devices ... and as such are no longer allowed to acces it ... except of course you haven't ... Microsoft just screwed up the install ... but you won't find that out at all unless you are extremely persistent ... and can find the Microsoft Technical Support phone number ... which is not included ANYWHERE in the packaging and instructions that you get from Amazon in the Office 365 activation code packaging. Sound like your idea of a smooth purchase? It gets even better ... once you find the Microsoft Tech Support number and call them, they start by telling you that your account doesn't exist, meaning that you are trying to pirate their software ... it takes a while but once you convince them to find your account they tell you that they do not see any Office 365 software even listed ... meaning that you are trying to pirate their software ... once you convince them that you do own the Office 365 software but just are no longer able to use it on your device, they literally have to take over control of your system in order to figure out why all of the above has occurred. Sounds like real fun now doesn't it? The best part though is when they tell you that your problem is that there are THREE (3), count'em 3 different versions of their Office product installed on your computer ... the funny part is that at this point they no longer need any convincing ... they in fact know what they need to do ... because this is a Known Issue ... so, then you can go make yourself a sandwich, run a load of laundry and maybe even run a quick errand while their tech goes through your entire system, folder by folder, file by file, and individually uninstalls all the extra and unnecessary Office 365 versions that are corrupting your purchased product ... all those files that Microsoft somehow managed to install and activate on your system in the first place ... which has caused your Office 365 purchase of over a month ago to suddenly no longer work. Are you really still interested in this product? Seriously? Okay. If you get this far and if they manage to get your Office 365 software properly and singularly installed ... and those are big if's ... then they give you a Case Number ... which they tell you to keep ... in case your software stops responding ... say at some point down the road ... telling you again that you have it installed on too many devices ... and have to call Microsoft Tech Support for help ... and want to expedite the follow-up support call. This was soooooooooooooo not worth the hassle and screw ups by Microsoft. Doing all of this using downloaded software and online activation by Microsoft clearly just causes A LOT more problems than it EVER should. My guess is that if you get the Known Issue multi-install-activation glitch, you will be experiencing the above, almost step by step. That's why it is referred to as a Known Issue. Then again, you may not. Good luck with your purchase. Place Your Bets!

We use MS office because we have to, not because it's good
I have to say that every time I deal with Microsoft it reminds me that Apple, despite all its flaws, has far better customer service and provides a better user experience. I had purchased office for Mac 2008 a few years ago, and it was working fine. I migrated to a new computer (also a Mac), and while it transferred the applications, it required me to re-input the product key to activate them. Luckily I still had the original package, but it did not accept the product key. After spending a long time dealing with customer support, they were finally able to tell me that the 2008 version is no longer supported and therefore the old product key would not be valid to re-activate the software. This was very frustrating for, me but it seemed like the only solution was to either abandon MS office altogether (not an option for me) or to purchase the 2011 version. I decided on the Office 365 subscription as it seemed the most economical solution, and also it will hopefully avoid future issues of this nature given the yearly subscription model. I found that there were 2 options. you can purchase the software for download for about $70, or you can have a physical card with the product key mailed to you (literally just a piece of plastic with a label on it) for $28. Both give you access to the exact same product - a 1 year subscription to Office 365 for a single user. The only difference is that 1 gives you access to an immediate download and the other involves waiting for a card to arrive 2 days later in the mail, with a price difference of $52. I opted for the physical card as I am not in a huge rush, but the pricing makes no sense. Why would MS want to encourage people to buy the physical card that has to be mailed? It actually costs more for them to print the card, put it in the package, and pay for the postage than it does to just provide a download only license. Just one more way that this company seems to have neglected to think about the customer experience - it's confusing to the user, makes no sense economically, and leads to indecision in buying (maybe there is some other way - like delivery by bike courier - which is even cheaper?) Regarding the product itself - it is what it is. If you need to use MS office docs, spreadsheets, etc then there is no good substitute yet. This allows you to download the full set of software to your local hard drive and use it for 1 year before you have to pay for renewal. It also comes with storage on some type of MS cloud, which I don't really use, but I suppose this could be attractive if you are looking for cloud storage.

Essential for Productivity
Microsoft Office 365 continues to be an indispensable tool for my work and personal projects. The seamless integration across devices, regular updates, and the vast array of features make it a must-have. The 1-year subscription offers great value, and the key card activation was hassle-free. Whether you're a student, professional, or just someone looking to stay organized, Office 365 is the way to go.

Best version of MS Office
As opposed to some of the other reviews I've seen on this product, my code worked as advertised and I knew going in that this is something that has to be renewed after a year. I am replacing Office 2007 and while this isn't a major improvement (how much can you really improve a well-established word processor, spreadsheet, etc.?) it is easier to navigate once you get used to it, and the 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage that comes with the subscription is nice. This product arrived on-time and as expected.

A Must for your PC
This was reasonably priced software from Microsoft and is needed today in all aspects of what we do whether it is to open a file, create or modify transcripts, projects etc. It was received quickly in the mail and worked perfectly on my PC. This can be ordered from Microsoft on-line but you would miss your discount(s) from Amazon

Microsoft Suite with 1 TB (1000 GB) of on-line storage
I had historically used a 3rd party On-line Back-up solution costing in excess of $100/year to safeguard my 700 GB library of research, videos, and photos. With an annual purchase of Office 365 you get 1 TB (1000 GB) of storage space, in addition to Microsoft's Office Suite of Work, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, and Outlook Mail. It can be installed on a single home computer PLUS one Tablet, and includes free upgrade for the entire year. Note: I use Microsoft Sync Toy to copy the files to One Drive . https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=15155

Region locked
Got the card all right. Serial number is to be entered with lowercases. Those yearly subscriptions are region locked. I had it delivered to my mom's house in canada but was unable to validate it from Europe where I work. From microsoft's forum got the info about region locked, MS have multiple validation server around the globe. I had to make my case by chatting with microsoft helpdesk. Eventually, the ms helpdesk acknowledged the problem and gave me a new serial number.
