These work just fine

I love these for mixing my makeup shades and applying the makeup on my face. The long stem allows you to get into small places to clean. Very useful for applying or blending eyeshadows. Great for applying concealer around your lip lines. A million uses, and the cotton tip doesn't shed.

I use them for cleaning. electronics, guns, small parts etc. The entire tip sometimes comes off when it catches on something which can be annoying if it falls in a difficult space but otherwise I like the flexibility of these. I can put bending pressure on them when cleaning and they don't snap

If you need sturdy, long-handled cotton swabs, these are outstanding. I use them for cleaning guns, as the regular swabs tend to bend and disintegrate in hard use. These allow me to clean deep inside the firing pin channel of my GLOCKs, for example.
