This is really nice.
This is getting bad reviews by others - felt I should give my 2 cents.I bought an IR 'fill' light which showed up weak...and pitiful. I am unsure the purpose of a fill light in IR but it was a waste of money. I bought this - at a similar wattage and function - to see if my expectations were wrong. This is a 'flood' light and not a fill light...so note I'm not expecting them to be identical. But this one is WAY WAY WAY brighter. Both are 940nm which is usually only good to 30-40' due to the wavelength...but this easily hits 40' out to 50' and with lots of bleed off out to 60'. If you've ever observed anything approaching a light source from the darkeness you'd be able to imagine how this works...first a shape is seen...then the shape takes form, then details can be seen then they become clearer clearer bright brighter BRIGHT TOO BRIGHT! That's just how IR illuminators work! What's also nice about this one is the fact it has a day/night sensor as well as a button to be always on or use the sensor. It's heavy and chunky and NOT discreet AT ALL...so make sure you verify dimensions and recognize that this thing WILL STAND OUT...it's not svelte or tiny by any means...but on the plus side, lots of chunky aluminum heat sinks on the rear. Note also this doesn't come with a power supply so you'll have to grab that also - which does add to the overall expense...12vdc/3a. Note that transformers or wall warts of this size start to get chunky...you may opt for a plug style where the plug is a big housing and takes up multiple plug spots...or you may consider the plug with cord to a 'brick' style. So keep that in mind that you'll have to get one. I tested mine on 12v/2a and it worked...but I suspect the LEDs weren't outputting to their max. And usually power supplies are oversized - so 3a may be a safety margin...I don't know what they actually pull in amperage - but I've got on order a 3am and I may update this review later to mention the differences between 2a supply and 3a supply.

Good Product
Good product for the price. The unit is well made and works well, but under normal installation it will not noticeably illuminate much more than 50-60 feet. Something I had either over looked or did not read was the fact it is 12v lighting with a female plug adapter around the size of a pencil. My apologies for no pic. You will need to purchase the 12v supply (+/-5% @12v) needed as well. If you are lighting a small-medium area like a patio, small yard… it is perfect. If an area like a field or shop, spot beams may be better.

Priced Appropriately for the Power; Rugged Design
This is the first IR Illuminator I’ve ever bought and, being honest, didn’t expect much since it is low priced and I was mostly using it to figure out how strong a 940 nm light I might need to brighten some CCTV areas at night. It accomplished what I needed-this won’t light up my driveway, but I kind of figured it wouldn’t, and it helped me understand how strong a 940 nm light I need. But I did find it works fantastic as a supplementary security camera light for the workshop in my back shed. Can’t be seen and now I can see all the details in that whole big room. Goes on at dusk, off at dawn, and feels very well built. Please, everyone should know: not all cameras can “see” the wavelength of this light. Before you buy ensure you check with your camera’s manufacturer and ask if their sensors are sensitive to 940 nanometer wavelength lights.

All six still work after a year and a half
I have many similar lights around my property from different manufacturers. Many do not survive the elements and harsh winters. All of these lights still work after two summers and one winter. They are not too bright and even the 24 LED version is not bright enough, but they give a 90 degree uniform coverage, which is OK for some applications. I would recommend them.

defect on the spot and im pissed needed it asap
The media could not be loaded. ok upon arrival I noticed the box was already look like it was returned had clear tape on it that was already aged yellow there's already damage to the Box crushed so it could be an old box along with there's no instructions in the Box and there's no plug to plug this device in for the same amount of money other companies on here giving you the plug with instructions with a good box that does not look like it's been sitting at warehouse as a return and a defect no less the one I got doesn't even light up press the button I had a nother IR illuminator very similar different brand check different type of power sources and still this thing don't light up it's a defect and I needed this ASAP I finally had just plugged in most of the day and for some reason I saw a light red glow that was barely noticeable to two of the LEDs then the on-off switch is not working shut off it maintains on and when I look in the camera feed as you can see in the video that's all this Illuminator does I must got a defect if this thing is such quality to reach a hundred feet in the dark

Works well.
Good Light. Properly 940nm, very low visibility to the eye.

The output pattern, will wider than some others, is not well balanced. There are bright spots and dim spots. No power cord included.

Dissapointed
Unit puts out less than 10 watts. Power supply draws 835milliamps at 12 volts. I should have realized that the diodes are only rated for one watt x 12. Where the 30 watt rating comes from I don't know! Very low power for such a large unit.
