Best Golden Retriever brush I've found
Easey 5 Stars for me. This is the best brush I have ever used on my Golden Retriever. I wish I got it years ago. It glides through her hair easily and pulls out a lot or hair. My dog loves it like a back scratcher - it doesn't pull hair like other bushes. I filled two shopping bags in15 minutes and the dog looks great. Feels like a well made tool of wood and stainless steel.

Best Dog Groomer Ever
This tool is amazing. It was worth every penny, and makes the worst mangy mutt look like he's been to the groomer. Easy to use. Love it. And the dogs don't hate it.

Excellent quality
This is what I've needed for years! It worked great on my Cavalier spaniel. She doesn't seem to mind it at all & I removed a ton of dead hair. It was very easy to use also & great quality. Definitely recommend.

The Jury Is Still Out
UPDATE 07/28/2024I switched over to the Mars Coat King double-wide brushes, 23- and 30-tooth versions, and they have been night-and-day different from the original small version. These work. They are not miracle workers! Don't expect them to detangle the mats without some additional effort before you begin. I need t use a wide-toothed rake and a comb to get started, and these do the finishing work.In spite of the furry little idiot splashing in the creek every day, I can keep him groomed for three months now. Before, he had to be professionally groomed every three weeks if I didn't want him clipped. As I commented earlier, the initial problem was my fault - I had the wrong tool for the job at hand - and it had nothing to do with these brushes. They're great.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE 05/12/2023The seller contacted me through Amazon and offered to make it right, which is amazing, but I declined their offer. I tried to make sure everyone understood my problem was using this tool on an Australian Shepherd with long, "crinkly" hair, and his coat probably contributed to the tool tugging on tangles. In my opinion, that's not the fault of the tool itself.I won't change my three-star rating for the effectiveness of the tool with MY Australian Shepherd, but I cannot recommend Oliver's Pet Care's customer service more highly. They're fantastic folk.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I live with an Australian Shepherd. Aussies have a dense undercoat they shed year 'round and I've tried every undercoat rake and comb I could find to keep him well groomed, but still need a professional groomer once each month to keep him from becoming one big tangle. Then I tried these Mars de-matters. They're almost great. Nothing I've used before now has done one-tenth as good for removing loose undercoat. They're fantastic as an undercoat rake.So far, they aren't as great with tangled or matted fur. The hype about tools like this claims they're gentler on the dog when removing or de-tangled their hair, but so far, after four brushings, I don't think that's true.He likes being brushed. He likes it a lot. But he's not happy when I get to work with the Mars de-matting tool.I've watched videos of how to use them and I'm pretty darned sure I'm doing it correctly, but even in areas where there are no tangles, these drag through his hair and I can see how that would get old real quick.Maybe I'll get better with it over time, and his coat is much softer and fluffier after using this tool, but I won't testify that it's gentle on him, tangled hair or no tangles.Australian Shepherds do not have silky hair. Their coat is almost the exact opposite of silky, and I have no doubt that's part of the reason the Mars de-matter drags through is hair and tugs on it more than I expected it would.I'm fence-straddling by giving it a three-star rating, neither positive or negative. It works great (five stars) but it tugs at his hair (one star) when I use it. Your mileage may vary.In spite of the downside I'm experiencing, this is a solid, very well-made tool and it does it's job of removing his undercoat before it can form a mat. I'd recommend it, especially if, like me, you live with a fuzzy, hairy dog who loves to leap into any kind of water he can find every chance he gets.

This is what all dog brushes should be
Holy Heck does this thing work!!! My buddy turned me on to this and I was very skeptical as it had a large price tag. We had been using the furminator for years with our golden. This brush (I have no idea how they do it) works 10x better! It is expensive, but this is a great example of you get what you pay for.Be careful though, it works so well, you need to know when to stop otherwise your dog will have very little hair left hahaaIt is worth mentioning that it does not pull the hair hard and is not painful to the dog. Our golden loves getting brushed with it. 10/10 reccomend

Works well but not in the way described
First off, this stripper works very well and will indeed remove excess hair, tangles and the like. Larger knots will probably still need to be cut out but for my Golden Retriever, the day to day "dreadlocks" are cleaned up nicely. The cutting head is not as large as I expected, maybe 2-1/2" wide so on a large dog it takes some time. I sit on the floor watching tv and spend maybe 1/2 hour "combing" him out and end up with enough hair to make another dog. Be careful though because the tines are sharpened hooked knives and can slice your finger. But, not that it is a huge concern, contrary to the claims this tool does not selectively remove dead hair. It works like a thinning comb and cuts out hair that get hung up in the tines. Bottom line is that it works great at cleaning up long coats especially if you're not combing your dog every day or even once a week. After a few sessions with this tool I've noticed a much smoother and better looking coat and a lot less hair to sweep up on our wood floors. 4 stars instead of 5 because the head could be a little wider and the description is misleading in terms of how it works.

You'd be silly not to buy it if you own a wire coat breed
MUST BUY FOR WIRE COATS. Purchased for my wolfhound's face and neck grooming. It's phenomenal. Works like a charm, easy to handle and sturdy

Best deshedding tool I’ve used
Extremely effective. I have tried four different deshedding tools (including Furminator) and this is by far the most effective on our long-haired dog — there is a wide gap between this tool and the rest. The interior blade surface is very sharp and easily cuts out the loose undercoat without pulling on the dog’s fur. He doesn’t mind being groomed with this tool at all.Note I went with the wide 30T version for our golden retriever (contrary to the manufacturer recommendation) and it is perfect. When this tool inevitably dulls I’ll buy another of the same version.
