They are too small to hold a m4 mag but each could probably hold 1 or 2 pistol mags or a feeder bottle of bb's. Overall i would recommend this product to anyone. Doesn't go down as far as the image suggests. It looks like it offers no protection. But when me and my buddies were having a war we tested the vest by having someone shoot me in the back with a shotgun from point blank range.
