Better than book 3 by far.
The writing as a whole felt great in this book, every part of it made each subsequent part better all the way to the end. Reading the next one immediately. I can't imagine the inner turmoil from when it was releasing.

*Spoilers* big jumps
I'm still enjoying the story for the most part; however, like a lot of stories there has been power creep and with this book there is a sudden power jump that leaves me a bit disgruntled. It is like you go from dealing with enemies like the Red Ribbon Army from Dragon Ball to jump straight to Frieza or even Marjin Buu in Dragon Ball Z without any build up. There are also elements of protag magnet going on where somehow the main character is in the middle of everything even when it doesn't make sense for him to be. We'll see how this develops, but hopefully smooth out and round out the cast a bit, like when his friend steps in and temporarily takes center stage in this book.

Impressive
After investing in the series on a whim, and almost regretting it, I'm pleased the character progression has improved along with the author's story telling. The first book seemed as though it were an encyclopedia for a D&D, or Elder Scrolls world cut and pasted into a written out RPG with a transplant prologue page from a dystopian novel. The second book was better in that the story was easily shown much more so than it was, seemingly, forcefully told in the precursor. The third, much more so than the second. This book greater still. There is solid character depth and story progression. Flow up to this point, minus typos and some repetitive wording, consistent. The overall story has improved as a whole, becoming much more succinct in its telling.Had I only bought the first book at the time I wouldn't have bothered with the rest of the series. I would have missed out on a good story.

hard to put down
This book was one of the hardest to put down in this series.I listened to the first 2 volumes on audible, and then switched to the ebooks because the other volumes have not yet been recorded. This book really got me rooting for arthur to save everyone, and I found it hard to stop reading until he had done so. I like the frequent change of scenery, expansion of the world plotline and the substle relationships forming between arthur and his (mainly female) companions. That being said, some things were indeed a bit frustrating as a reader, arthur made quite a few illogical decisions that he was really forewarned not to make.SPOILERS AHEADHe decided to chill at home and party, while letting Tessia go on her own back to school, after being entrusted to protect and take care of her, and being warned that he will be challanged, and needs to make the right decision, because danger is lurking around the corner. He also decided not to use the training orb he was given for some odd reason, and he did not tell Goodsky and the councel ANY information about the death of one of the 6 lances. He also did not even attempt to defend himself by explaining the situation when he was capturued by the lances, and neither did anyone else apparently. I also didn't like how his arrival to save everyone was built up for several chapters, only for all the enemies to leave before he gets there, it felt very anti-climatic for the big reveal of his powers.Additionally, because everyone basically left and all threats are gone for the time being, the cliff-hanger does not nearly feel as important as the author clearly wants it to be. I have a suspicion that he will probably be freed in the first or second chapter of the next book, and then things will just continue as usual, preparing for the next big conflict. This is much less exciting than having to fight the most important battle he has had to fight yet.And none if his companions even get the chance to talk to him after the fight and express their feelings and emotions... that's a real shame. Conclusion:Even though there are many things I didn't like, this book has been incredibly fun to read, and it easily surpasses most fantasy books. That's why I will still rate it a 5/5. A good book should be frustrating in some ways, that's what makes it so fun.

Great place to pump the brakes
I've been reading this series everyday this week. Marveling at the world build, appreciating the character development and looking forward to what happens next. Never disappointed. Even now, I could see myself just reading to the end. But the ending here, serves as a great place to hit the pause button. After going through so much, and doing everything he can to get stronger and reconcile with his new life, Art does a backslide. One that is completely justified and earned. But also one, that as a reader, I really wish had a different outcome. Honestly, the last 10 pages of this book will leave you a little wrecked. Bound to happen. But, if you need a resting point. This book, for me, is the one. Look forward to exploring the next path of Art's adventure at a later date.

Must read!!!!
This series is amazing it is everything I didnt know I was looking for in a book and even tho I bought the audibile version 1 an 2 I didn't know 3 an 4 wernt available until April 7 th and was extremely disappointed but then I saw all 7 books on Kindle, I tryed to find a different series to listen to for 3 days but I couldn't and I finally broke down and bought the remaining 5 books on Kindle and I still plan on listening to the audibile version as well so that says something about this series, I can excited see just what Arthur can do when he is fully mature and I hope that the author keeps producing books for this series because it is amazing!!!! I've stayed up late reading so my mind is kinda in a daze but I love that in the story you get different perspectives from other characters without them taken over the story. I immediately checked to see if this author has written anything else it is almost like this story was pulled from my mind I like everything about it but even tho it feels like this story was pulled from my head it's the first story I've read in along time that I couldn't guess what was coming, the author continues to awe me
