Sawyer SP110 Inline Hydration Pack Adapter: The Ultimate Field Convenience
TLDR; The SP110 is an essential accessory for Sawyer filter users who rely on a hydration pack. It converts your existing Squeeze, Mini, or Micro Squeeze filter into an inline system, allowing you to fill your reservoir with 'dirty' water and drink clean water instantly through the tube. The main drawback is the risk of a contaminated reservoir, which requires thorough cleaning when the filter is removed. I've been looking for the most convenient way to filter water on long hikes and bike treks, and the Sawyer SP110 Inline Hydration Pack Adapter is the answer for anyone who uses a hydration reservoir. The core idea—turning your existing, reliable Sawyer filter into a hands-free inline system—is brilliant. It takes the "squeeze" out of the Squeeze filter and allows for on-the-go filtration. The adapter kit itself is simple: two small plastic connectors that allow you to integrate your Sawyer screw-on filter (like the Squeeze, Mini, or Micro Squeeze) directly into the drinking tube of your hydration pack. Installation requires a simple cut of the 1/4-inch inner diameter tube, screwing the adapters onto the filter, and pushing the cut tubing onto the adapter barbs, ensuring the flow arrow on the filter points toward your bite valve. This setup transforms your hydration system—you can now scoop up water from a creek or lake and fill your reservoir completely with unfiltered water, and the filter will clean it instantly as you drink. This eliminates the need to constantly interrupt your hike for a gravity or squeeze-filter session. The convenience is unmatched. Being able to refill a large reservoir quickly and then continue moving is a huge time saver. The adapters also include a connection piece to bypass the filter, allowing you to reconnect the drinking tube directly when the filter is not needed (though thorough cleaning of the reservoir is mandatory in this scenario). The SP110 is compatible with the most popular Sawyer screw-on filters (Squeeze, Mini, Micro Squeeze, and PointOne), making it a versatile and cost-effective upgrade since you don't have to buy a new filter. The primary drawback is inherent to any inline system: the water in your reservoir will be unfiltered. This means the bladder itself becomes a "dirty" water container, which can be difficult to clean effectively in the backcountry. If you want to use the reservoir for clean, treated water later, it will require full disinfection. Also, depending on the filter you use (the Mini is notorious), the flow rate may be slow and require significant suction, especially as the filter starts to clog. However, with the full Squeeze filter, the flow rate is usually adequate. Pros Converts Sawyer Squeeze/Mini/Micro filters into a hands-free inline system. Allows for quick refilling of the entire hydration reservoir with dirty water. Eliminates the need to stop and squeeze or gravity-filter water. Quick and easy to install on standard 1/4-inch hydration pack tubing. Lightweight and compact, adding minimal bulk to your system. Includes a bypass adapter to reconnect the tube when the filter is not in use. Cons The entire hydration reservoir becomes a 'dirty' water container, requiring thorough cleaning. Flow rate when drinking may be restricted, especially with a Mini filter or a clogged filter. Requires cutting the existing hydration pack tubing for installation. Verdict The Sawyer SP110 Inline Hydration Pack Adapter is a top-tier upgrade for backpackers, hikers, and cyclists who primarily use a hydration reservoir for backcountry water. Its five-star rating is based on the massive convenience it adds to the filtering process, seamlessly integrating a reliable filtration system into your drinking tube. It's the ultimate accessory for high-mileage days where stopping to filter is a hassle. If you are comfortable with your reservoir becoming a dedicated dirty water source, this adapter is well worth the investment.

Drop your filter to increase pressure
Allows me to use a length of line between my dirty water sack and filter to increase the pressure head, which improves flow rate. I carry the bag, filter, and this coupling with 2 feet of water line to refill bottles.

Nice and easy set up for my Sawyer
I already have a pair of these from a sawyer filter set I bought in the past. They work well with my Osprey hydration pack, as there is a quick release piece on it that I take off, and put these on to use my Sawyer filter with it. When I don't need the filter, I just screw these together and continue to use the hydration tube. Since I have more than one hydration pack, having a few of these, comes in handy to use on them.

Great for adapting different bottle-types
I purchased this to use with my MSR dromedary cap. The dromedary caps technically have a tap on them that you can use for rinsing dishes or a toothbrush and filling cups/bottles, but the flow rate is very slow, and it's easy to waste a bunch of water just based on how it works. I really wanted to be able to adapt my cap to use standard hydration hoses, and this cap did the job. Admittedly, I only purchased this to use the blue cap with female threads, but it has worked great on my dromedary cap. It looks like most manufactures use this thread size or have a way to adapt to it, so if you're needing to be able to adapt to a standard hydration hose, this is a good option. It even has a hose washer in it to prevent leaking. One thing I did notice was that the blue cap does not have a barbed adapter as pictured. It is smooth, but tapered. I am a little concerned about leaking or about my hose coming loose over time. If that happens, I suppose I'll just put some fresh hose on there. It is working great for the time being, but it is not as pictured.

DIY gravity filter
I used the Sawyer Products SP110 Inline Hydration Pack Adapters, and a 3 foot section of silicone food-safe tubing and a CNOC water bag to make my own gravity filter system. With the right adapters, this is simple and hopefully will save me effort of squeezing on those filters. I have a Platypus Quickdraw; it should also work with the Sawyer Squeeze or any filter that connects with a 28mm water bottle. I am attaching the filter at the BOTTOM of the tubing so there is more water pressure pushing through the filter (this means the tubing is on the dirty water side of the system). I am optimistic this will work and I'm going to test this out on an upcoming backpacking trip. The only con is that there is no barb on the blue end 1/4" connector. The silicone tubing I have seems to hold on anyway.

Works well
I used half of this to turn an old style not double threaded sawyer filter into a double threaded one so I can filter directly into a smart water bottle. I also needed a tiny length of Tyson tubing… all because I am too cheap to upgrade to a modern sawyer filter. Works great

Too much but oh well.
These work fine but are grossly overpriced. Sawyer should supply these with the units and not sting their customers. I would hope that Sawyer execs are embarrassed and ashamed for a ten thousand percent markup but I doubt this is the case. The filters are great but greed is never good. It kind of takes the shine off the purchase.

Great for my application!
I am using these products for a different application than most. These two components are going into my bug out bag. The gray end with male threads will be used as a cap for my Saywer Mini. I simply used a pliers to bend the end together and then melted it closed over a candle. I want my Sawyer Mini capped after use so that potentially contaminated water does not get all over my water preparation kit and cause cross contamination. I would rather be safe than sorry in this regard. The male threads fit right inside of my Sawyer Mini. I am also carrying a couple of standard soda bottles in my kit. They are lightweight and durable. One is for collecting water (green Mountain Dew bottle) and the other is for water I made safe to drink. The blue adapter threads onto the clean water bottle, and I attached small piece of the straw that came with the Sawyer Mini to the adapter. That is the device I will use to back flush my filter in the field. As far as others using these filters to make a gravity feed system, I am can do the same thing by simply threading my Sawyer Mini to my dirty water bottle or use it like a Sawyer Squeeze.

Sawyer Wasserfilter Inline Adapter
Hallo. Funktioniert prima.

Blue female adapter different from image.
No barb on the female adapter as photo would suggest. Useless if you want to use it with any tubing.
