The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent - Part I

Ideas that work if you put them to the test.
First of all, my husband and I have a shared Amazon account. This is not R. Barrington writing, but his wife.I am a psychotherapist, and I am an open-minded skeptic. What this means is that I seek diligently after what I hope is truth, but I question the content fairly critically. I listen closely to my own inner compass, and I try out what is offered before I decide if it is true or not. This takes time and effort.I have read and sought widely ideas that can help me, and those I serve, live in a world that often seems dysfunctional and full of suffering. In writing this review I bring a great deal of knowledge around the nexus of science, consciousness, and philosophy.I have followed Abraham-Hicks for quite some time. I have often felt mixed about what I observe. There is plenty of evidence to suggest to the rational mind that Esther and Jerry Hicks might have been in the spirituality “business” for the money. There is much in what they offer that makes me wonder if it is not a big con. However, after considering the actual content in their books and videos, I can only conclude that what is shared in these materials is truly helpful. I have read “Ask and It Shall be Given.” The skeptic in me often scoffed at the overabundance of positivity therein. However, when it came down to it, I found the processes shared in that book truly effective for shifting one’s mindset, as well as building greater capacity to operate from a more centered place in one’s being. Carl Jung has said that the truth is “what works”; “The truth is what helps you live.” The books written by Abraham-Hicks do help you live. This book is interesting to me for how it connects with the ideas presented within the community of out-of-body explorers, like Thomas Campbell and William Buhlman. It is pretty far out stuff, but most of the people who explore out-of-body state that they don’t want you to believe them. They encourage you to learn the techniques required, and go and find out for yourself. I trust this stance. We can only learn the truth of what works by practicing the ideas offered and learning for ourselves. The perspective offered by those who travel out of body is one that can shake every assumption we hold as a “typical” 21st-century human being. What these explorers suggest is that we are all beings of consciousness that operate multidimensionally and that living in the physical plane has a very important and distinct purpose related to the further purpose of evolution of the total system of consciousness. These are big ideas that cannot be covered in an Amazon review, but if you’re curious I suggest you check out these authors.Abraham-Hicks suggest this same big picture perspective. They suggest that the physical plane is the leading edge of an expanding multidimensional consciousness, and that we can effectively navigate our true path within this enormous big picture reality by being aware of our feeling-emotional states and tuning the way we operate according to what we observe in these feeling states. The idea that we can feel our way toward the emerging future that we ourselves are creating make sense to me. Our feelings states are the surest guide of efficacy. How we feel definitely tells us how well we are living life. Few people possess the skills to live from their highest potential. Too much confusion is sowed from our collective culture as we grow and develop. We emerge as adults confused and disconnected from our natural abilities to guide our life from our feeling function. However, I can attest to the fact that when individuals are living from their highest potential they feel fantastic. If more people had “to feel“ lists, rather than “to do“ lists, their lives would transform drastically for the better.Of course, there is much more to it than that. This book offers a novel and transformational perspective that can change your life for the better, if you can digest and integrate what is being offered.

Delving deeper and deliberately
It took a closer reading of this book to fully appreciate it, having read 'Ask And It Is Given' and 'The Law of Attraction.' If you are new to these teachings, I recommend, you read one of those first in order to fully appreciate what is presented here. This book focuses on the NOW, in making sure you stay aligned with your higher non-physical self(and thus source energy/God/universe), moment by moment. Exercises and examples are offered to help you get back on track towards alignment no matter what your emotional state. Yes, there is some repetition from other books, but that is what it takes to "get it". And while I was initially disappointed that some of the same processes discussed in 'Ask..' were repeated here, I realized that these were specifically chosen given the theme of this book, and the fresh examples offered, provided another incentive to use them! For those who have understood the basics, and then get stuck occasionally, or want to ratchet up their alignment with source, this book is a must. For me, it reinforced some fundamental points:i) that more important than want you desire, is how you FEEL about that desire, and the vibration you offer.ii) feeling good about something or a situation is more important than being right or justified in your negative emotion/judgment of it.iii) nothing is more important than feeling good.(For those who are critical of 'feeling good' or see it as selfish while African children are starving, recognize that unless we feel good, we are unable to be of benefit to others or focus beyond our immediate needs, let alone anyone else's. Also, as we move up the emotional scale toward peace/love/joy, our perceptions of 'self' is also more likely to change to embrace all beings as part of the interconnectedness that is the Universe, and one with Source. This is more likely to result in creating more compassionate deliberate intentions and manifestations to benefit all beings!Ultimately though, this book is about making the most of our time in this physical plane, using our consciousness and thoughts to keep us in alignment with source energy in order to experience joy and abundance.

Reads like a paraphrase of "Ask and It Is Given"
"Ask and It Is Given" just blew me away, and once I had really read it through several times (and started having success in manifesting), I wondered what else there was. I found my way to the Abraham-Hicks website where I was able to download a long recording of Abraham actually speaking. Wow.I then noticed another book available, "The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent", and its table of contents preview seemed to suggest that there was lots of new material inside.UPSIDE: "Deliberate Intent" contains some vibration-raising exercises for relationship problems, work-related problems, etc. that go further than the first book.It also includes transcripts of sessions where people actually asked Abraham for help with their own personal problems (Abraham Live-Questions and Answers). A lot of it was surprising. I wish there had been more of that, because it was so educational.DOWNSIDE: A lot of the book covers exactly the same material as does "Ask and It Is Given", only it is worded and organized differently.I don't think it's so much a problem of the authors "padding", as it is this: the process of manifesting as laid out by Abraham is deceptively simple; so simple in fact, that one can only elaborate on it so much and that's it."Ask and It Is Given" is still my all-time favorite book of this genre, and I rate it one star higher than "Deliberate Intent". They are both good books, but the former will always be the magical key of manifesting for my money.

Great book for people who are first being introduced to the law of attraction.
It’s a great introduction for those who don’t know much about the law of attraction. I’ve been studying and using it consciously for years, so as I purchased this book I came to realise that I already knew all that and some more.HOWEVER, I have found it extremely useful because it’s bringing it back to the beginning. Sometimes, we need to start fresh and this is a great book to do that. It’s a big book but easy to read which I love.Who do I suggest it for? I suggest it for those who are beginning and don’t know much about it. It has considerably more information than the secret, so choose this over that.Do I suggest it for people who use it consciously often with great results? Nope, but I do recommend Ask and it is Given.Hope this helps!
