You charge the light and then they stay lit for a period of time. I have the little suctions attached on each side of my bathroom mirror where I do my makeup. I just rotate the light and charge one while I’m using the other one. So to answer your question you just keep the light charged with the usb plug that comes with the lights. If you wanted them to be portable you can take it with you until it needs to be charged again.
