A Classic, that Spawned Imitators
This is a classic tale. SPOILER ALERT! It was the first to inspire suicide contagion when first published. END SPOILER ALERT (Read on from here with no fear) A brilliant meditation on obsessive love by a master. The annotations are useful as is the supplement. If you have any interest in the follies of adolescent love or just want to read a good short, well-crafted yearn, old man Goethe is tough to beat.

pretty good
The books were in great condition and a better price than most places. One thing I wish was different is faster shipping especially if your ordering a larger amount.

Dripping with with passion, emotion, romanticism...
I read this as a teenager, but reading it now doesn’t make it any less tragic or shocking. I suppose that many of us have been where Werther himself was, as was Goethe himself apparently as he wrote his most famous work. The book is short, intense, and in a sense not greatly eventful. But each page drips with passion, emotion, romanticism... Goethe himself lived a long life, and was always haunted by this book that made him world famous at the age of 24. Strange how that is!!
