CHROMAChromacryl Premium Acrylic Paint - Pints - Set of 12 - Assorted Colors

I bought two sets of these Chromacryl acrylics for a public event during which 9 artists painted and completed 9, 30"x40" canvases within 3 hours. I've used the Chroma Atelier open-dry-time acrylics for years on my paintings because, for me, they are perfect. But I had not tried Chromacryl, their economy option. They were great!! I really do LOVE every Chroma product I've used. These paints were FULL of pigment, so much that there was lots of paint left at the end of the event. They aren't flat and opaque like a tempera or a gouache: they have just enough transparency in them that your painting still has plenty of life in it. Your brushstrokes will show, and your painting will look like a painting and not a poster. Just the right colors were included, too. I will definitely purchase these again.

As an art teacher, I'm always looking to work within my public education budget by cutting costs with materials. However, using Chromacryl acrylics was a mistake. The paint, for whatever reason, remains water soluble even after drying. This means that if you paint red and let it dry, and then paint anything over it, the two colors will mix. This is not desirable for acrylic painting. Avoid this brand if at all possible.

These paints are worth the price. They are bright, thick and luscious. Suitable for all skill levels. If you want, thin them with gel medium. My 2 1/2 year old grandson and my 60 plus self are enjoying them. These are a joy to use.

This paint is a good thick paint that can be diluted to last.

I used chromacryl for a mural along with several other acrylics. All of my dark chromacryl sections faded and have to be repainted with other acrylics after only one year, indoors.
