Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Face Wash with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment Medicine, Daily Facial Cleanser to Reduce Size and Redness of Acne, Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Face Wash, 5 Fl Oz

I've been lucky most of my life to have fairly clear skin, I generally only get one or two massive zits at a time which clear up after a few days of smashing the hell out of them. I'm old enough now that I'm on a monostatic birth control pill instead of a tricyclic. It's been hell on my skin. I've had more acne with that than I did in puberty. I had found another product by the same company that managed to get that mostly under control.. until I got a CPAP with a sleep mask. The acne exploded after the second day of the mask being on my face. It was painful to use the mask and I think I was messing with the mask while I was asleep, due to the acne, and causing it to leak. Enter this product. My life is changed. I have fairly sensitive skin. I react to bug bites terribly badly and I'm apparently delicious. I burn after 5 minutes in the sun. I bruise easily. I get folliculitis (bumpy areas due to irritated hair follicles). I decided to test this product below my ear. I put it on, left it for about 30 seconds, washed it off, patted dry. Seemed fine the next day, so I put it all over my face (being very careful to avoid my eyes totally - nothing on eyelids anywhere) and left it for about 20 seconds, washed off, patted skin dry instead of rubbing the way I usually do. It left my skin feeling noticeably more oily than usual, after a skin cleaning product. That oily feeling went away after about 10 or 15 minutes, then I followed up with my normal moisturizer (also same company). The difference the next day was astounding. The folliculitis was gone. The acne was less painful. The large juicy ones were smaller and a lot easier to leave alone. I use it every other day because I'm paranoid, but even with just that, my skin is clear again. I can wear my sleep mask (it's also cleaned daily, so that shouldn't have caused the acne by itself) and actually get some sleep. It does NOT moisturize, it specifically dries out the skin. It has a bit of a chemical odor, but I have dyed hair and it's certainly no worse than that. TLDR: Test it out first in a small area - you might be allergic. Don't leave it on your skin like it's a mask. It's a very strong cleanser, you can get burned. DO NOT put it around your eyes - the product directions specifically say that. Pat your skin dry, some of the product stays on and if you rub it'll come off. Use little and NOT often until you know your skin can handle it. Absolutely fantastic product.

Benzoyl Peroxide is extremely drying for most people and this is not exception. It’s not an overall acne treatment. Benzoyl Peroxide is typically best for pustules. So just your basic little pimples. It does wonders when you’re preventing and wanting to get rid of pustules. It does little to nothing for blackheads though (I’ve read watched all types of active ingredients and have experience from real dermatologists). This is super painful and drying to your eyes. The scent is mint which is a really bad irritant for your delicate skin ON TOP of BP so please be gentle and nice to your skin, I wouldn’t recommend using more than once a day. Ben P. Is really light sensitizing too so it increases risk of sunburn. If you want to get rid of acne and keep it away, get retinol. The best bet is Differine Gel Adapalene. Retinols are bad to wear during the day because they cause sun sensitivity but retinol is the #1 plastic surgeon and dermatologist recommended ingredient to eliminate wrinkles. Adaplene is great because it’s also really well known for fighting acne and keeping it away. It’s best at night after washing you face. But Benz. P. And vitamin c both counter act retinol so be aware to not wear them simultaneously. It takes about a month of continuous use to see change but once it’s working it WORKS.

EDIT: Been using this product for an additional two weeks (so a total of one month) and I can say I've seen definite improvement. Much less noticeable burning sensation, too. Skin dryness is still a thing, but it's worth it, for me, for the results I'm getting. Little to no acne, even during 'that time of the month' when I usually break out horribly. Upping my rating to four stars, would give it 4.5 if I could. I have oily skin, and I get acne all over my face, but most noticeably on my cheeks. My skin is not sensitive, and I have never had an allergy to anything. I've been using this product once daily for two weeks, now. I'm giving it three stars, because my skin is definitely clearer, but it's not a drastic improvement. I will continue using it, and if I notice more improvement in the future, I might bump my review up to four stars. However, there are some real issues to note with this product: - Firstly, it BURNS. When I put it on my face, and then for a short while after washing it off, there's an uncomfortable burning sensation. It's not terribly painful, but it's not great, either. However, this gets less bad with use. After a week, I barely felt it. - Along with the burning sensation, it makes my skin go kind of blotchy-red for a short while after use. No more than an hour or so, but enough that I didn't want to use this in the mornings if I was planning on leaving the house soon after. I'll stick to only using it before bed. Can't go to work looking like a tomato. - In the same vein, it's very drying, and I have oily skin. Definitely have a good moisturizer on hand, and if you already have dry skin, I don't think I'd recommend this product to begin with. - People aren't kidding about the bleaching thing. I put a tiny amount of cleanser on my face, scrubbed it off, and then used an exfoliator, and still, when I gently patted my face dry with a towel after, the towel ended up bleached yellow. Get some white towels. Seriously. (I have very fair hair, so I can't speak to this, but I do wonder what this bleaching might do if you have darker eyebrows...) Overall, I'd say the product is worth a try if, like me, you've tried everything else and you're desperate for anything that might help your acne. Clearly, some people have seen good results. But be careful, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. Do a very small patch-test first, try using it first on a day when you don't need to be seen in public, and be ready to drown yourself in moisturizer.

Ok I have suffered for years and Doctor said I had rosacea, kept me on an anabiotic for one and it came right back when I stop the anabiotic. Went to dermatologist and all they wanted to do was burn them off and they came right back. No doctor ever give me anything that really worked. I’ve been buying different things off of Amazon and letting the drugstore recommend different things but have not found anything that will touch it. I am happy to say that after less than a month of use, my face is 90% better you can hardly tell it. Thanks so much Neutrogena for such a fine product. I average once a day, I normally do it while I’m in the shower and that way I get it all rinsed off good. I am very bad about keeping my hands on my face because it’s always itching but now I notice I’m not fooling with my face as much. I am rarely having any pimples like on my nose and around the bottom of my nose. I’m not getting any like water blisters on my face with little pimples. My nose is not sore so yes they have got a lifetime customer and it’s not expensive where you can afford to use it. If I had to buy it by the 5 gallon bucket I would do it LOL. By the way I am 65 years old and been suffering with it for 40 years. If this COVID-19 wasn’t going on we would all have a big party here in West Virginia to celebrate my face getting cured. If Neutrogena needs a spokesman I’m the man LOL.

I had chronic scalp folliculitis for 7 years, and was treated with long term antibiotics, prescription shampoos, nothing worked. Finally I found a cure! Completely over the counter, no meds. Here's the two remedies that worked for me: 10-15 minute baths with diluted bleach. Basically fill up your bath tub with enough water to lay down and soak your head, keeping eyes out of the water. Add to this 1/4 cup of household bleach. I kept a towel nearby in case I accidentally got bleach-water on my face close to my eyes. But be careful, bleach is a strong chemical! Take two-three bleach baths per week, whenever you want for at least six weeks. For me, consistency over 6-8 weeks is what finally cleared me up entirely. Washing every other day with 10% benzoyl peroxide wash. I used the Neutrogena product on Amazon called 'Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Face Wash with 10 Benzoyl Peroxide' but i imagine any 10% benzoyl peroxide would work. I'm still on this regime, and although the bleach definitely isn't great for the quality of your hair, for me the relief is so worth it. I was struggling for years and the dermatologists were no help. This also improved my other acne. If the benzoyl peroxide wash makes your scalp really itchy, just don't itch it, and maybe take an extra day off between uses of it. The itch goes away for the most part. I tried literally everything else, about six antibiotics, tons of folliculitis treatment products and creams, antifungal shampoos, you name it. Household bleach and benzoyl peroxide wash for six weeks as described here will do it. Good luck out there! I know how annoying and frustrating this issue can be. You can beat this, don't give up.

So, this product was a god-send at first. I had tried a "miracle" acne bar soap that was meant to be the solution to all breakouts, and that product sent me into the worse breakout I have had since I was in high school. I had to do so much work to reverse the terrible damage done. I found this product and minimized my skin-care routine to nothing but this, a toner (sometimes), and moisturizer. For the first several weeks, it was amazing. My acne started to disappear, I was seeing clear skin for the first time in forever, my skin felt smooth and soft... I was so happy. Once my acne was 99% cleared up, I started having infrequent reactions to something in my routine. I thought it was the moisturizer so I cut it out for a while. I had to start doing systematic testing to find out which product was causing it. One night I washed my face with this and didn't do the rest of my routine. I woke up with my face on fire. I looked in the mirror and it was beet red, swollen and puffy looking, hives all down my neck, etc. I felt like I had chemical burn. I had to do cold, wet compresses to calm it down some. I took benadryl to stop the itching. I tried a spot treatment once after and had the same reaction. It turns out, at least from what I can deduce, that it's the benzoyl peroxide in both products that's doing it. I don't know why it wasn't an immediate reaction, why I went weeks and weeks with amazing results, only to spontaneously start having severe allergic reactions to this ingredient. The itching lasts for hours and hours. My nose feels raw and tender the way it does after a really bad sunburn. My cheeks feel tight and everything around my jawline itches like you wouldn't believe. So, just be cautious, if you choose to use this product, there's a chance it'll work well for a while and then randomly start causing adverse reactions like some of the other 1-star reviews say.

I can’t say enough about this product. I have been struggling with cystic acne for several months now. At any given time, I’d have 10-15 red, painful pimples on my face, primarily on my cheeks. Right when it would start to clear up, I’d break out again, it was a never ending cycle. Until I purchased this product! I read an article in a magazine that listed this product so I gave it a shot. Over the course of 2 weeks, with daily use during the first 10 days, my skin is now clear! I backed off of using it daily and now only use it every few days, my skin has remained clear. I also paired this with The Ordinary hyaluronic acid and Cerave serum to help lighten the scars left from my blemishes. I would then use Neutrogena oil free moisturizer. My skin feels good, softer than ever. I will continue to use this product because it worked fast. One thing to note, the ingredients in this product lightened my colored wash clothes and towels. It will leave a bleach-like stain on linens so I now only use white towels when washing and drying my face. If you’re struggling with cystic acne, this will do the trick! And fast!

I don’t normally write product reviews, but I felt inclined to because of the amazing results that I got with this face wash! I struggle with cystic acne along my jaw line and chin area. I have spent hundreds of dollars on skin care that I should basically have a new face at this point. Nothing was working, except drying my skin out and causing it to be more irritated. Let me tell you - I have been using this product for 2 days now, and my huge cystic acne spots have dried up completely! I use this wash 3x a day then finish it off with Aveeno’s hydrocortisone 1% cream (it has a triple oat complex that soothes the skin, reduces inflammation, and prevents itching). I honestly was not expecting this face wash to be so effective. I have sensitive skin. This wash does not burn or tingle, is creamy in texture, and leaves my skin feeling clean down to the pores. Disclaimer: NO acne product will remove cystic acne overnight, so expect 2-3 days for clearing. I can say that I noticed an improvement immediately!

I had tried so many different methods over years to get rid of my stubborn acne but this one just worked like magic on me. My acne was on and off, one goes two comes and for years at the same spot. Washing face regularly and keeping the skin clean can get rid of acne temporarily but if your acne is stubborn it needs a proper treatment than just a normal face wash or face scrub. This is more like medical face wash and works exactly like it should. There is no strong fragrance and it doesnt foam, which is very healthy for your skin. I felt slightly tingling sensation while applying it but it was very normal. It reduced my acne size and also cleared out the clogged pores slowly. After a week of use I noticed a small change and now after 4 weeks my acne remains only around 20%. If you buy this product dont feel disheartened if it doesnt work in a week. This works slowly. Apply daily, massage the effected area very very gently for a few minutes then wash off. And yes avoid using other products on your skin which has strong smell or clogs your pores. Hope your skin gets better!

This is a great product. My skin was in such bad condition and I used it temporarily to settle my inflamed and red face, which it did in one week of application.

This product is absolutely the best if you have moderate to severe acne. I had dozens of acne and spots on my face. You could see a very good result using this BP cleanser . I saw a visible difference within 2weeks and im using since 3 months and all my acne has been cleared .
