Helpful, but not a miracle. Bring extra bags to hold soiled (not wet) clothes.Maybe somebody has better technique, but here's my advice:1) Only fill about 1/2 full. (The bottom 1/2)2) Don't zip top, folding over gently to get much of the air out the zipper.3) Now zip and start rolling tight from the zipper down to the clothes.4) Keep rolling and when you reach clothes pushing down to get this air to exit from the "bladder" end of the bag. Don't expect perfection.5) Do this 2 days before, then re-roll and compress the bags (without unzipping) the following day. You will get more compression (and bags tend to let a little air back in).I am a male who travels abroad with mainly casual nylon clothes (nylon polo shirts, shorts, pants and underwear). Nylon, because they weigh less, take up far less space and can be hand washed and dried overnight. I tend not to use bags for shirts, shorts and pants, as I can lay them flat in suitcase bottom to prevent wrinkles (some suitcases are not conducive for this without adding layering to the bottom first). Between myself and family, we still have many uses for the bags on airline or car travel.I also use these bags in my motorhome, where space is at a premium and in addition to your clothes you are traveling with your linens.I am considering buying the bags you suck the air out with a vacuum, especially for the motorhome sheets and blankets. There, I can have a vacuum to compress bags again and again. I decided to use the smaller bags to pack one outfit per bag per day and it worked great. I would buy these bags again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Didn't work as advertised, but managed to get them to work. *by G***G on Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2019* I would have given them a 5 star but it didn't work as advertised. When I put my clothes in the bags and tried to roll out the air, the air didn't escape and it blew open the seal and sent the clip that seals the bag across the room. I ended up leaving the seal open a little, rolled up the bag and then finished sealing up the bag. That worked very well as it compressed everything in the bag. I used the bags on a motorcycle trip and used the bags to pack everything into my saddle bags. It rained very hard on this trip and rain got inside my saddle bags but everything that I put into the space bags stayed dry.
