LeGrand Smart Switches - taking lazy to a whole new level
I purchased and installed 12 of these switches almost two months ago. Given some of the negative feedback, I wanted some time to evaluate the switches before leaving a review: good, bad or indifferent. Overall, I’ve had zero problems. These switches were easy to install and even easier to setup in HomeKit. It took a bit of digging and internet research to find documentation of how to set up and pair the remote switch with the main switch, but I got it done. I also have several Echo Dots. Integration with Alexa and the Alexa app seemed to have a few more steps, but again I got it done. HomeKit with Siri has a definite advantage over Alexa in the aspect that you can control your lights and switches from any where. With Alexa, you have to be on the same local network and would need the LeGrand app to accomplish this away from home. Some of the problems I’ve read about are non-existent in my setup. I’ve yet to see any delay when I turn the lights on or off at the wall. It works instantly. I’ve had no issues of the switches going offline and needing to be reset. The switches have been extremely reliable. From my experience, these switches work almost instantaneously with Siri, but have a bit of delay when using Alexa. I’m including a video to show the difference. If anyone has an answer of how to make Alexa respond quicker, I’d be glad to hear. Throughout my house, I have a combination of 1, 3 and 4 gang setups. I really like the screwless wall plate covers. They make for a better looking finish. Although not the fault of the switch, most people would be surprised of how sloppily the builders install the switch boxes. If the box isn’t installed flush or straight inside the wall, it translates to the wall plates not sitting straight and flush with the wall as well. Overall, I have no regrets with my purchase and highly recommend them to anyone who’ll listen. This is a very good product.

Wow! Thank you Legrand...
ONE YEAR UPDATE: I installed three switches just over a year ago. One switch would NOT stay connected to the Wi-Fi despite having a strong signal on my dedicated 2.4ghz IoT network. I replaced it last week. This week, the second switch totally stopped working....the relay inside quit switching. Today, I’m replacing the third and final switch because it will not stay connected. The fact that all three switches that I purchased a year ago are being replaced, compelled me to update my review. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product. Original review: This Apple HomeKit smart switch is fantastic! This is the only switch that I’ve seen so far that includes wires and wire nuts! That means no more trips to Home Depot to buy neutral wire. I’ve installed more than one brand of smart switch in my home and this was, by far, the easiest. Installation literally takes five minutes and you can add it directly with the Apple Home app. You never need to download the Legrand Home app (which looks really nice). As far as functionality, the switch response time is instantaneous with the home app. It actually responds faster in HomeKit than physically flipping the switch. Aesthetically, it looks great. It looks identical to the standard Legrand switch that’s already installed at my house. It has a small, white indicator light that’s on when the switch is off. This light can not be turned off in settings. PROS: - Super easy to install and includes wires and wire nuts - Extremely fast response time in HomeKit, instantaneous - The price was fantastic! - Comes with a wall plate but fits in a standard rocker style wall plate - Can be added directly with the Apple home app, no need to download their app - The Legrand Home app actually looks pretty nice and has a good functionality CONS: - The white indicator light cannot be turned off in settings with the Legrand app. This is not a serious issue, because the indicator light is very small and not bright. - There is a slight delay when turning on the lights by physically tapping the switch. It’s not terrible, but it’s noticeable. I love this new switch from Legrand. I look forward to trying the dimmer version in the near future.

Works without any trouble
I bought this smart dimmer after buying the Wemo smart dimmer and that one not working. This one has all the same features I wanted (works with HomeKit and Alexa), and installs with basic electrical knowledge. I was trying to use this on a 5 bulb chandelier (LED candle type bulbs that are dimmable) and wasn’t expecting much but this is where the Wemo failed. I figured it was the 5 bulb fixture that was causing this issue. This dimmer works and functions properly, and did as soon as I turned the breaker back on. I came back up from the basement as the bulbs started off dim. This switch was about $10 more than the Wemo one, but unlike the Wemo it does what it says it will. $55 for a switch is a lot, but my wife went from not using the chandelier because it was too bright to using it all the time.

It'd be perfect if it used 5 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz
They are aesthetically pleasing, the rocker design feels natural, Installation was easy, adding to HomeKit a breeze and you can't beat the price. Aside from the issue below it's below it's been a perfect switch. My gripe, I installed 120+ of these switches, remotes and dimmers in my new house but I didn't realize the narrow bandwidth of the 2.4 Ghz wireless spectrum would only allow a little over 20 switches per access point so I wound up with 5 access points, each with their own 2.4 GHz SSID I had to assign specific switches to, scattered throughout my house and that too isn't great because the 2.4 GHz band only has 3 channels that don't overlap so I'm often left with unresponsive switches and the other 2.4 GHz devices I have suffer. Legrand should have used 5 GHz radios to support greater number of switches in a house like the Levitron switches do. If they ever do I'll buy some to replace some of my 2.4 GHz ones to make the network more stable.
