JET 58-Piece Clamping Kit for 5/8" T-Slots (CK-12)

First off, I've frankly never been terribly impressed with anything from Jet, most of their products seem to be at a quality level about the same as Harbor Freight, and this is no exception. It's functional, and that is the only thing keeping it from being a 1 star review. It's not in a metal tray, as is pictured and specifically stated in the description. It's a cheap plastic tray that feels like it will break under the weight of it's contents. The T nuts are partially threaded, all to different depths, the threads are not smooth on either the studs or the nuts. The hex nuts are not a consistent hex larger in some edge pairs than others, meaning the supplied wrench slips right on in one plane and is too small in the next. It's just kind of cheap barely functional crap with a, for reasons I don't and have never understood, premium name attached to it.I've bought Grizzly stuff and have been quite often impressed, Harbor Freight and Northern Tool stuff and feel I got what I expected, but then there is Jet, seems like it's always a disappointment, I always feel like I paid a premium for the name and got a cut rate product in return. I needed these right away and they are functional, but reality is that is I had more patience I could return them and get something better for the price or 2 of the same quality. Is it worse than some of the cheap import brands, well no, it isn't, but every Jet product I've ever bought had quality control on par with those cheapest of cheap import brands, and has carried a premium price tag.

I bought this Jet clamping kit deeply discounted. At regular price, I would not touch it. It seems to be no different than the same products you can find around here for a lot less money (Grizzly clamping kit, for example). The tray is plastic, NOT metal as indicated in the description. I give it two stars for being of decent quality. At the 70%+ off price I bought it at, it was a good deal. But at full price? Look elsewhere.
