This is a solid square and most importantly, it’s actually square — which is really the entire job. The materials and finish both feel good, and it’s noticeably nicer than the ultra-cheap options without getting into premium professional pricing. I’m not in construction and don’t use every feature these framing squares offer, but for casual woodworking, layout work, and setting up cuts it’s been great. One thing I’ve learned is that starting a project even slightly out of square just compounds problems later and leads to frustration very quickly, so this is not a tool I’d recommend completely cheaping out on. At the same time, I also don’t think most hobbyists necessarily need the most expensive professional-grade square on the market either. This feels like a really good middle ground between affordability and quality. Overall, if you’re a DIYer or casual woodworker looking for a dependable framing square without overspending, this is a good choice.

I like these small squares, I moved over to this square from the Milwaukee version and so far I like it. This square has a grippy coating that doesn't scratch up downspouts I mainly use it for marking cuts while building 2x3 steel downspouts. It's very comfortable over using the regular speed square.

Super handy size of this square makes it a must have around the wood shop. Love the white on black easy-read markings. The price is right and it seems to be a quality tool. Was going to pay the price for one of those fancy smaller squares, but glad I didn't. For what I would have paid, I could have three of these. Will definitely get another one to have as a spare.

Good quality. A square is a square but it feels sturdy

I find this extremely handy for a lot of work I do. Its size for small jobs is great as opposed to having to use a large square. I keep it handy on the pegboard at the workbench.

Scale is easy to read and just the right size for small jobs or 1 x 4 and 2 x 4 wood.

Perfect 4" square, marking notches are something I look for whenever buying my squares as they don't all come with them. This tool does what it's supposed to.

Other than spending 300 on my martinez square, this is my next favourite square on the market and only $20!!! The Johnson "Johnny Square" is VERY STRONG snd DURABLE as the pictures show it is able to with stand getting shot by a 3 1/4" air nail in the weakest spot of the tool. It ended up with a slight bend at the tip but still able to be used perfectly after I bent it back to shape with a few taps with my hammer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Bought this as needed a small square to carry on me at all times for work. Shipping from the USA to Australia arrived 2 weeks earlier then Amazon stayed with I have found with my other purchases which is great. Handy little sturdy square . Better quality then the Bunnings brands . Would recommend . Only negative is the built in note pad wich doesn’t erase easily. It’s just a cute little gimmick but as I don’t use the note pad
