Medium Gumball Bank, 12"

This was a gift for my nephew for his 3rd birthday. I thought it would be a super thoughtful gift since the little guy is obsessed with gum and what little kid wouldn’t want their very own gum ball machine! The look on my sister’s (his mother’s) face when he opened it was priceless too.The whole ordeal was fun for about 30 minutes until he was running around pick pocketing and panhandling everyone at the party for loose change and then running back to the machine for another gumball which he would chew for about 10 seconds and promptly swallow so he could have another. He just wouldn’t stop swallowing the gum balls and the threat that he would blow bubbles out of his butt only made him want more.The very next day the gumball machine went missing and hasn’t been seen since. By him anyway. I know exactly where it is.The machine is very well made and quite heavy with a solid metal base. The mechanism works very well and it is a great and very vintage looking. The glass is fairly thick, but would most likely easily shatter if dropped. For the price I really think it is well made! I do not, however, recommend buying one for a gum obsessed 3 year old.

I bought this gumball machine for an incentive for potty training. It works great. It is very well made and easy to use for my nephew. It motivates him to use the potty so he can get a coin for a gumball.

Christmas gift and ofcourse the children love it. Good quality.

Santa left this gumball bank under the tree for my 6 year old daughter who is crazy about gumballs and gumball machines and she was very happy to find it. When I first took it out of the box I surprised that it was smaller than I expected, but it's still big enough. I bought a 20 ounce container of sugarless gumballs and it filled the gumball bank about halfway up. I used a nickle to test the coin-turn knob mechanism and found that the gumballs jammed about 2 out of every 5 tries. The gumball machine can be adjusted to allow only one or several gumballs to drop at each turn and I adjusted it so that 2 would drop since these gumballs are pretty small. It seemed to work o.k. after that.The only problem with it and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the knob is too hard for my daughter to turn all the way by herself. I have to turn it the rest of the way for her. The bank aspect is great, it holds a lot of coins, it's easy to get the money out once the gumballs are all gone, it's easy to re-fill with gumballs, and the directions say you can fill it up with other candies besides just gumballs though we haven't tried anything else. You can adjust this bank to give gumballs without having to insert a coin (any size coin seems to work fine) but we want her to save some money so she has to use a coin to get gumballs. The head is made out of what seems to be fairly durable glass (not plastic) and the base is all metal painted fire-truck red. I will probably add a drop or two of oil to the knob mechanism since it seems to grind a bit when being turned. It's not what a millionaire would buy for their kid, but it's cute and colorful, and it works alright - just hard for a kid to turn the knob.

This was a random impulse purchase i made a few years ago. It still sits on my desk to this day, and i haven't touched it in almost a year. I love you, useless desk gumball machine. I would never replace you.

Easily worth every penny. Easy to setup. Instructions also list replacement parts and a exploded diagram for disassembly and reassembly! Packaged well and arrived safe and sound without any issues. Comes setup for quarters but is easily switched over to free spin without much thought by removing a steel spring locking clip from the coin mech. Having several coin operated machines in my house (re-living my youth), I can tell you this is a nice quality piece to add to your collection and you won't be disappointed at all with the purchase of this machine.I'm sure to become the favor uncle in the family now with this gumball machine in my gameroom ... maybe I add a snow cone machine later on ... hehe.As for teaching kids how to save money as some have suggested here ... yeah right! That seems awful cruel to me but hey ... go for it ... I'm sure your kids will hate you for it ... lol! Who buys a gumball machine to torture children with? Scrooge maybe ... hehe.Note: For you adults that are apparently idiots, it is made out of glass so don't overtight the screws and don't shake the machine with gumballs in it trying to removing coins unless it's clear full where the gumballs can't move or empty. Gumballs are fairly hard so you might as well throw rocks at it if you're that stupid! This is not a toy either so supervise your children around this machine because broken glass can injury or be fatal! Apparently, this machine needs a sticker the says "Common Sense Required."

1 star for being a good looking gumball machine. The coins keep getting stuck and haven't been able to use it all all. I will be returning hopefully exchanging it because I did like it. I will amend my review if I get another one and if it actually works.

Just what my retro game room needed! I put (4) 9oz bags of skittles in it, got about 2/3 full. Left it set as it came, and I get 6-8 skittles per turn, perfect! I love the sound, brings me back!
