Watchers were the original angels sent to Earth to watch humans but when they began to procreate with them they were punished by a group of angels called Sentinels. Their wings were cut off, they lost their souls, gained immortality and became "the Fallen". Their offspring became half mortal, half angel but they could be turned by one of the original Fallen and could then walk in daylight as long as they were given access to a Fallen's blood. Minions are vampires who are confined to the night, they can make more vampires but cannot reproduce. They are hunted by the Sentinels. But they outnumber the Sentinels. Lyman's were created from angels and demons and have been cursed since the beginning of their time to serve as bodyguards to the Sentinels. Most are not treated well by the Sentinels. They are not immortal but do live longer then plain mortals and can reproduce like mortals. They outnumber the Sentinels by the thousands. I am also a fan of Sylvia Days Crossfire Novel - Bared to You - which is completely different to the Renegade Angel series yet it tells you a lot about the Author! that she is driven to empower her readers with her amazing writing style ;) Adrian Mitchell is a sexy hot Alpha male Angel who leads the Sentinels (a pack of Angels) to police the fallen angels to stop them (and their minions/fledglings) from creating havoc in the mortal world. He has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and tries to control them as best he can whilst at the same time protecting his only true lover, whom hes loved for eons. Lindsay Gibson is a strong human mortal that carries the soul of Shadoe. The soul that belongs to the daughter of the Vampire Leader, Syre. The soul that Adrian falls in love with over and over again. But she also comes with a surprise. That Lindsay holds a personality of her own that takes a hold on Adrian as well. Elijah is a Lycan who serves the sentinel or more precisely, Adrian. Like most of his kin he is loyal to the sentinel and helps control the vampire clans... but he is also being looked to as the Alpha of their kind if they should revolt to freedom. His pack pressures him to make a choice of staying with the sentinel or leave them and take up his position as the Leader. You have to read it to find out what he chooses. This story is action packed all throughout the book and keeps you in the loop of everything that is going on right to the end. Making you want to find out more. I didnt feel that there were inconsistencies,I felt that the book was setting the stage for something bigger and that everything that the characters believed would change...I could be totally wrong, I but I think in the next few books, it will all be clear. I think that Adrian, along with all the angels, the lycans and also the vampires, will all evolve into something else in the future books..The vampires are really not "souless" as they are supposed to be, as they care about each other, the lycans arent really supposed to be slaves, so they take things into their own hands, and the angels probably will develop relationships in the future...This book formed a very interesting and complex world, which I found fascinating...Adrian was a great leader and his feelings for Lindsay were very strong..Lindsay was complex and compassionate and totally believable in her dealings with this new world, which she thought she didnt belong in, but really did! I loved how their relationship was handled....and I also loved Elijah too!
