Highly recommend these cards for all kinds of leaders. I've used the Leadership Story Deck on a few occasions now and am in love with the results!Most recently I had a group of new hires at an organization pull cards from the deck to use in discussion with experienced hires. It was fun (and enlightening) to have the newbees look through the deck and pick the cards that they were interested in the most. And the experienced employees enjoyed thinking about and coming up with stories to share! Through the stories, the group came up with a list of attributes that make a good employee (a good company citizen) and we came up with symbols for each attribute. We then crafted notecards with those symbols. Whenever someone is living one of those attributes, they get a card with the matching nsymbol. Makes it tangible and fun!I also used some of the cards in the deck when discussing group goals with a specific team. There's a card titled "The Hero Is Us" and it has the group come up with stories of success that stemmed from the unique capabilities of the group. We were able to draw that wisdom and then use it to craft metrics and goals around performance, and expand that wisdom to help in areas the team were not performing as solidly. It was a wonderful tool that allowed the team to co-create their future from the positive core and strengths of the group.There are lots of ways to be super-creative with the cards. Great springboard for discussions!

I found the story cards well considered and executed. Perhaps the examples resonate more with US than with some international audiences. I have previously worked with the author’s “The Four Critical Stories Leaders Need For Influence” shared in Dave Stachoviak’s Coaching for Leaders Podcast, and wish that these critical story types (Origin, Vision, Values, and Learning) would come out more clearly and powerfully in the deck. I’m looking forward to using this deck for myself and with colleagues and clients. As a learning leader in this area I have felt assured by the author’s earlier statements that for leaders to choose the right story type to tell in a situation may be more important than their delivery, which takes time to master. I highly recommend this deck, and the author’s other titles, to leaders who want to build storytelling skills and experiences.

Did you ever purchase something so amazing that you bought multiple sets...for gifts....and then just wanted to keep them all for yourself? I ordered Story Deck for me and my colleagues when I viewed an online presentation about Storytelling at storythefuture by David Hutchens. When I received the deck and reviewed the material, I ordered more for my clients. Now I am savoring every stimulating, juicy bit of guidance and sample story. Love the idea that it's an activity and instructional. I am rejuvenated and ready to tell amazing personal and organizational stories of innovation, growth and success. Best tool ever! Perhaps I misread the description, but this is not what I was looking for in terms of engaging story cards for high school students. I was hoping for an interactive story activity that integrated leadership skills or motivational aspects, but the deck of cards was overly wordy, uninspiring and geared towards adults in business settings. I would have returned had I known before opening the deck.

The story deck is a great idea and full of story ideas. Nicely put together. It is based on lots of experience and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into creating it.
