I try to leave reviews as often as I can. I will admit that I get so busy that I often just wind up pushing it down my to-do list until I no longer even have a fresh idea of what I wanted to say. I am still busy, but I am taking the time NOW to write this review based on two things. One, the strips work, and work well. I remember doing the Atkins diet about 20 years ago. I bought very similar strips and not only did I have a hard time finding them (back then) but I remember thinking that I spent a lot of dough just to pee on something, Ha!! These are very affordable and of the same high quality as I had back when. They shipped fast and I have used them everyday, multiple times a day. I just like to know...you know? Two, the seller is awesome! They have sent me emails with encouraging words, LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of GREAT information and they continue to be ready to support me if I ever have the slightest question, concern or problem...and that is BEYOND the product. Let me start by stating I paid full price for these strips - which if you think about it, really isn't that bad. i chose these for the price point. BACKGROUND - I have been watching my carbs for a few years now because I know how effective it is with managing my weight. I usually try and not overthink things, like measuring and counting, because I tend to get wrapped up and become obsessive. Lately though I haven't been able to lose any weight despite trying so I decided to analyze and evaluate my low carb diet. The first step was to figure out my ketone levels. Now many keto folks will say these ketone strips are unnecessary, but I was curious to see what my body was doing/not doing. USAGE - I've used Ketostix in the past and know how these work. (TMI warning ahead) For these strips I used my stream, and in about 20 seconds a color change appeared. (The bottle recommends 40 seconds.) Note : if you wait for more than a couple minutes the test strip will read a false positive for more ketones, so read within a minute! To address people who say these don't work, perhaps they weren't in ketosis? There's a little color chart on the back of the jar that indicates how many ketones are detected in your urine (darker is "better"). I was registering "small" which motivated me to try and kickstart my keto-ness. These work - and are great motivators. When you see it change color, you feel inspired to continue and work even harder. They are priced right and seller support is great. There's a big desiccant package inside with the strips to keep them dry.

Like many people visiting the page for this product I have been working on my Ketogenic Eating Plan. Having researched many articles and books on the matter, I was informed that these types of products are great to use for the first 30 days of your body adjusting to Ketosis. After 30 days blood monitoring equipment is better suited to inform you about what is currenlty occurring in your body, and this device becomes more and more unreliable. The strips container has all the instructions and color coding printed on top of it, and makes it easy to gauge your levels by comparing your strip to the bottle, within 35-40 seconds you will see the finalized result on the strip. The strips are easy to use, and as I have seen suggested in several books you can cut the strip in half to increase usage, but the product does comes with 100 strips which will easily take you through the first couple of months of your eating plan.

I've been undergoing a ketogenic diet periodically since the 70s, when Dr Atkins first wrote his Diet Revolution book. Back then, it was a pretty spartan proposition, since the only sugar substitute readily available was saccharin, which tasted plain nasty, and alternative flours, such as almond and coconut, were not widely available. Milk for cooking or drinking? Forget it! No almond, soy, or coconut milks widely or consistently available. It's no exaggeration to say that difference between keto dieting then and now is akin to night and day. What has not changed is that even back then, we used Ketostix to check for the presence of ketones in order to know our body had achieved ketosis, and then to know our carb intake limit to stay there. They worked exactly the same, with the same purple color, as these and others like TruePlus. Back then, though, they were incredibly expensive for a small number. Not like the Smackfat strips, which are so reasonably priced, they won't break the bank. Anyone can avail themselves of the wealth of information on the web, and begin her/his own keto diet, and know precisely what's going on in her/his body under all variable circumstances. The strips work just as well as the more expensive and ubiquitous TruePlus strips you can get at any Walgreens. Smackfat are concise and accurate, matching the more expensive TruePlus exactly. Ive done many side-by-side comparisons, and can assert that Smackfat are dead-on accurate. Additionally, they have a longer strip, making it easier to hold further from the urine stream, a little advantage that does not go unappreciated here. The company owner sends you an email soon after purchase with a link to his ncredibly informative e-pamphlet, a compilation that explains everything you could ever want to know about the benefits and ramifications of adopting the ketogenic lifestyle, complete with links to many medical studies that underscore and support said info. Moreover, he makes himself available by email, inviting you to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. That is way above and beyond. His before/after pictures are nothing short of amazing, and inspiring! These are the only strips I will buy in the future. A+ product, superb price and attentive customer service=an unbeatable combo. I use these as a cheaper alternative to Bayer Ketostix, which are very expensive. You'll notice several reviewers say things like "any color is okay" when referring to the results on the strips. Simply put, the strips don't provide as precise a result as the genuine Bayer Ketostix. They'll show color of some kind and that does indicate the presence of Ketones but they aren't like the Bayer Ketostix where that the darkness or lightness consistently shows the level of ketosis the body is in. I've compared them side-by-side and the Smackfat results vary wildly. Since I bought these, I've kept the Bayer ones around for comparison and, well, there is no comparison. The Bayer strips are accurate and work 100% of the time. These are sore of "meh" when it comes to their performance. I can take the same cup of urine and test with 5 Bayer Ketostix and then 5 of the Smackfat. The Smackfat will be significantly varying darkness and the Bayer Ketostix will be all the same. This is consistent. Why do I use these? Well, they never register ZERO when I'm in ketosis. There's always some color, which is all I need sometimes. However, I still keep the genuine Bayer around for when I need accuracy. In a nutshell, these save me from using the Bayer Ketostix for routine testing but, when I need accuracy, I have to pull out the real deal. TIPS: The Smackfat strips work best when you urinate in a cup and dip it. Passing it through the stream seems to produce false negatives. I believe the force of the urine is washing the reagent off of the strip, but I could be wrong. The results are always darker when you use the cup. With Smackfat, you dunk in the cup, remove, and wait 45 seconds before reviewing the color. With Bayer, that time is 15 seconds...so these are different. All in all, these are good for people who play their ketosis fast and loose and don't care about accuracy. If you need precision, stick with Bayer. I still buy these and keep them near every toilet I use for convenience, but you'd better believe I keep the Bayer around still.

Well, yes they did arrive and without issue. I erred, thinking these would measure my blood glucose. Dang. Was this really that clear? So v disappointed and a bit upset as there'd been some delay in my ordering and receiviing..and I needed thier function, at the time of their arrival. . The company wrote this nice email about their personal commitment to the satisfaction of every customer..so I replied saying this isn't what i thought it would be. I did NOT get a reply from them, just another nice generic email in which advice is errantly distributed. I say errantly because ketone absence in urine is not the best, nor an adequate measurement for success in ketogenesis, as per umpteen experts in the Keto Summit of late and a number of main player/ authors and leaders in the field. Knowing your carb tolerance is essential and these strips do not test for that, as it would seem that they would. I'm sure I ought to have been more attentive in ordering,. Thought I had been...ah well. Am I happy? No. I had thought they might mean what they said about caring about the experience of each customer..but hmmm, no.Ought they to be portraying this as an adequate measure ment for ketogenesis? Seems to me and many, ..no. Did these arrive, yes. Did I order them, yes, somehow. Do I regret it and am I miffed, frustrated and feeling ripped off, yes. Is it fair to blame here? Partly. There it ends. They look pretty and clean and are made outside the USA. I'd like them if they worked for Ketogenic measurements with urine for glucose levels. The only viable urine measure is to determine carb tolerance via glucose levels...Blood ketones or breath acetone as primary measures..are the two valid ketone measureemnts to date, period. Tested.. I've spent $200 on acetone breath tools via Ketonix and am not about to be impressed by urine measurements which experts call incomplete and imprecise. Sorry..would have appreciated some customer care.

I started keto and wasn't successful and when I got these I was frustrated because it wasn't showing any change in color. So, I went back and wrote down my food and realized I was substantially over my carbs I should be doing. So, I did more research and started tracking better and within 3 days, the color started changing substantially. Now, they show that I am strong ketosis and I am actually dropping weight. I think these are great to keep you motivated and it shows they are accurate, because I am losing weight now and I wasn't and the sticks showed that I wasn't in ketosis and now I am. The sticks are super easy to use, it only takes a few seconds to change to the color you are in. They are affordable and for helping you to know when you are in ketosis, they are worth it. I had a couple of higher carb days and the color went down substantially but not all the way, so the next day I got back on track and I was back at the right color within 2 days.
