Some times you can imper vise. Usually something like that is universal. IF you call a plumber I hope you have deep pockets! **Q: what is the temperature rating for your Brower** A: It is good up to -30 degree's and the temperature setting is 40 degree's **Q: How do you bring water into these units to keep the water line from freezing? Do you bring it straight up underneath from deep underground?** A: We would do it the same way they did in Montana. When we installed the waters ourselves we also put heat tapes on the riser. The water was always checked twice a day. (We put an indoor outdoor thermometer inside on the pipe so we knew IF the riser was or was not near freezing. It was Installed against a wall and the tube ran thru a wall to the opposite side so the animals couldn't play with it.) When we installed our old water we custom made it. We stuffed the unit--not real tight with bat insulation like you use in the house and glued sheet insulation inside the unit but you do have some mouse problems. The Brower has its own insulation. I have no ideal how good the insulation is. I'm not able to keep the horses here in the Winter so I'm not much help but R Chadwick method is the way I'd do it. Montana can gets a lot colder than NE! **Q: The element is melting the integrated electrical wire inside the box. It's too close and the element is really hot. Anyone else experience this?** A: I asked my husband your question. We have not had any problems but he had added more insulation inside because we live in MN and a north wind can hit it. He said since he added more insulation we only have the heat dial turned half way up. He said the element gets very hot. So if you live in a warmer climate than MN turn down the heat. If you live in a cold climate like us, turn down the heat and add some insulation. Fails every 5 months. *by A***R on October 11, 2022* Recent change from metal float hardware to plastic has made what once was a great waterer into a piece of junk. We purchased our first brower waterers 6 years ago and after good results with them we decided to install them in the rest of our paddocks. We purchased three in Feb. 2022. Today October, 2022, all three units have failed twice! The problem is the plastic threaded arm and adjustment screw. After the first units broke, we contacted Brower and we’re told that they failed because there was too much water pressure (50 lbs.) We installed 8 lb. Pressure reducers at each line before repairing (with parts that cost over $200, and a two week wait). Now, 4 months later like clockwork, all of our units have failed again at the exact same point. The problem is clearly the plastic hardware failure. Unfortunately some pencil pusher at Brower company decided that they could save a couple of dollars, and as a result have turned what once was a reliable product into a piece of junk. We will not be repairing these units again.
