Seymour from the outpouring in Asuza St. to his disappointment and death. Martin has cited his sources, which are many, but at the end of every chapter he has included photographs.We are taken from before Asuza street to Seymour's parents and the times they lived in, to the fateful outpouring of the Spirit on the small congregation, to its overcrowding growth and spread, until Seymour's disappointment and lonely death.Seymour was a man ahead of the times. In the midst of a racism that lynched black people of whatever gender or age for whatever reason, Seymour's Apostolic Faith Mission involved mixed races holding hands and worshipping together. However, white racists were continually trying to take over the Mission.
