I bought this set because I am currently recovering from wrist surgery, and I need very much to have my strength back as my job is dangerous and physical. My safety depends partially on my ability to physically control dangerous people. Basically, exercise putty is the silly putty you played with as a kid (maybe even an adult "kid"), but with differing amounts of resistance. This means they have the same downsides as silly putty. This means that they can conform to nearly anything, they can stick to text and copy it, and they can pick up cat and dog hair like crazy (so if you have animals or a really dusty house, be careful to put them right back in their cases when you are done) The different colors are good steps up (or down) in resistance levels, not too much, not too little. They are all great for different times in your progress, or different exercises. For instance, some people have said that the brown is too weak. For my current weakness, it is actually a great place to start. If you are just using them to work out, and you aren't weak, you can use this softer putty for doing longer workouts more focused on endurance. I tend to use the brown and yellow putties for my weak hand, and also for when I'm watching tv in my strong hand to increase its endurance. You could also use this for fast muscle fiber exercises, it's soft enough to squeeze quickly, but provides quiet a bit of resistance when you're squeezing so quickly. Great for martial artists like myself, or cops/correctional officers like myself, as it's important to work fast and slow fibers. Again, people have complained about the strength of the black putty especially. Yes, for regular speed training, it's really tough. It'd be great for someone with already strong hands and forearms. For those of us that aren't muscle men or women, you can do the exercises you'd like slowly and this WILL squeeze very well at a slow speed and give constant resistance throughout. I can even use it in my weak hand if I go very slow and carefully. So overall these are great for exercising, their intended purpose. I almost took away one star because they do suck up the pet hair around the house if I am not careful to set them only down in their plastic buckets, but realized that any putty will do this, it's the nature of the substance. Now, I DID find another purpose for these besides working out. These are all semi solids, so they "melt" into blobs, or into whatever shape they are put in. The softer resistances will flow toward gravity faster, the stronger resistances much more slowly. So other than being fun and cool, these putties could be used to teach science lessons, especially about gravity and semi solids, in an interactive and fun way. I didn't get them for this purpose, but discovered it accidentally. Might be fun for parents/teachers though. Overall, with the caveat that they do pick up dust, pet hair, etc. easily, these are great putties.

EXCELLENT! CAN do theraputty is excellent for hand and finger strengthening for all ages! Bring your kiddos occupational therapy sessions home to your house for more practice and fun! Many ways to do fun activities while working for hand strengthening! Each color has a different level of resistance and helps your kids progress to them next level! Highly recommend!

This stuff works great. Started with the 2nd 1 as my hands are pretty strong. Was easy to use and amazing how sore my hands were the next day. Definately a good buy. Should use ever day to keep hands limber and strong.

Using Therapy putty (hand patient) for 5 years, this stuff is great. Did not have to go to Medical store, just AMAZON. I like having it at home, so I can work outside the clinic. It is not a toy as others have said. Containers looked half empty, so I weighed them, YES, 4 oz plus in each. Comes in 8 oz container, so comments about skimping are wrong, they just didn't have a digital scale. Each MFG use their own colors, so have your therapist tell you which color to use. Tan was the same as MY white. I like having the 6 pack so I can move up or down depending on my hand condition without having to order new putty. Having different types for different exercise is great, too! Tan for smashing and green for gripping. The 8 oz container turned out to be great for scavenging, that's where you have different shaped metal objects(nuts, bolts, screws, and such) you pull from the putty. WARNING: Once you add the junk, it's only used for scavenging, so use old putty for this or buy an extra (green) one just for this.This is for dexterity not strength.

I had hand/thumb surgery and I was initially attracted to these because you received 6 different resistances and it would have cost me substantially more to purchase them through my physical/occupational therapist. Putty is definitely one of the best ways to work on hand strength because it is so versatile; you can push, pull and squeeze it in so many directions. Even though my PT had me using the red and green I started at the bottom with the peach because I could do it for much longer and then I slowly worked up through the colors. I think most people will find like I did that the blue and black aren't necessary unless you're wanting to build serious strength in your hands. Just going through the green got me back to my pre surgery hand strength. The blue is hard to use and the black is extremely hard. It feels like you are playing with melted rubber. It also had an oiliness to it that the others didn't that I really disliked. Overall, this is a great product and a good buy, but if you don't think you'll use them, you might look for a set without the blue and black.

Exactly what I hoped for, yes the previous review are right, it comes fairy oily at first, but after playing and stretching it, it’ll go away to a very matte texture! The tan color lid doesnt close which is not ideal, as well as the plastic covering each one has holes at the top, assuming for ventilation, but unfortunately that defeats the purpose of it potentially coming out of the bin like in the photo. This could’ve gone wrong with the holes at the top Still great, it was what I was looking for, got the 3oz six pack and I’m very happy with them

Super Knete, sie hilft mir sehr für meine Fingertherapie und beruhigt meine Nerven. Die ganz helle weiche Knete kam aber leider defekt bei mir an.
