This was another excellent part of the Morgan Dane series. Of course always with interesting cases, crazy horrible people, a murder, a great couple, and a mom with secrets! The ole twists and turns, it wouldn’t be Morgan Dane without them. This ‘Morgan Dane’ Book starts off with a sheriff's deputy Paul, who has been shot to death in his home. Unfortunately the only suspect they’re looking for is Evan, his stepson, who not only disappears from the scene of the crime, but doesn’t trust any cop. He will not reappear even though Evan knows the truth, and knows he’s in trouble if he doesn’t.Enter Evans Mom who has very good reasons why she doesn’t trust police officers but believes beyond a shadow of a doubt, Evan isn’t the killer, she has her great reasons, but...*No Spoilers* Evan’s mom asks (begs) PI Lance to find her son. Lance doesn’t believe Evan is guilty as well as defense attorney/PI Morgan Dane. So they set out to find the boy. But as Morgan and Lance get into the case, and as usual they discover a few, let’s say, unexpected events? Is Evan the killer’s next target? Why is he running? Is Evans mom more than a little involved...she may have lots to hide..but did she kill Paul?Right from the start we witness a murder & what is seen through the eyes of Evan, the slow motion “what is happening?” Plus we see the Sheriffs Dept immediately “assume” he’s guilty! Why aren’t they looking for anyone else? As the reader we all know what’s going down, but as time goes through each Chapter, we start questioning motives on ALL sides. Most books don’t let you know things in advance, and if they do..they usually don’t have you questioning “other people” who DID have motives!I always LOVE Morgan & Lances working & non working relationship and the work appreciation for each other. Since both of them put their “love” for each other on the side while working...They absolutely don’t in private. I think I loved this one so much because Lance isn’t just becoming closer to Morgan’s children, but he’s like this “perfect” guy that every woman wants to marry. He takes care of Morgan’s children as if he was their “biological” Dad. He reads how-to books on parenting. He makes their lunches & the BEST that all women want in a man, he cleans up vomit without being asked?! Whose husband here cleans “YUKE” without being asked?! Okay so he wants to marry Morgan, but Lance does things from his heart NOT to get brownie points with the girls, Morgan & grandpa!Okay lastly there is Sharp’s helping with this mess! Since he didn’t show up until the end of the middle, I really thought he wouldn’t be involved, but just when Sharp—“knows something smells”—he does a dumb, gets too involved with the “wrong” crowd & takes Olivia—who hasn’t been in a couple of books lately—with him. Actually it was Olivia’s reporter intuition that takes Sharp into a dangerous liaison. She’s always saying “don’t let me down now or are you a nervous chicken”?The bottom line is: There is so much action and I mean serious scenarios that while I’m reading, I’m trying to picture all this in my head. Like, how are they going to get out if this—and—is this the last book? There’s no way someone who is held so dear is going to make it!! Alas, you’ll have to read to find out what secrets are hiding, will they be revealed and who is REALLY Evans mom?!Definitely recommended for all and I think I’ll be reading again, just because we always find answers when we search for them...

Light but fun
The Morgan Dane books are not great literature, of course, but they are fun to read and can get fairly exciting toward the end. There are some areas that appear to be not well researched, for instance, either Sharp is not as smart as he thinks or our author doesn't know as much as she thinks about healthy eating and drinking. Sadly, while organic locally grown honey may have a few nutrients over refined sugar, it is still sugar and Sharp buys it by the case. He also seems not to realize, while warning Margo if the dangers of caffeine, that green tea has a lot of it. Although, the theanine it contains helps mellow it's effects, the caffeine is there. Some do believe green tea has some health benefits, but not all experts agree. Smartie pants Sharp needs to get his facts straight before forcing his "healthy" eating and drinking on everyone. Getting facts straight is something that bugs me a bit, but I admit I can be a bit picky.Still enjoy the Dane books for a change of pace.

Highly entertaining and completely riviting
For lawyer Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger, trying to balance their personal life with their professional life is hard work, especially as Morgan’s kids and family often take center stage in their relationship. But when a retired sheriff’s deputy is killed and his stepson, Evan, is missing, it’s up to Morgan, Lance and Lance’s partner, Sharp, to figure out just what got the deputy killed and who is after Evan. The twists keep coming as they follow the trail and as more questions add up, secrets are starting to come out in the open. But as the killer draws Morgan and Lance into his game, they find the killer is determined to keep those secrets hidden no matter the cost.Wow is all I can say after finishing SECRETS NEVER DIE and I can’t help but fall in love with these characters more and more with each book in the series. Author Melinda Leigh delivers a pulse pounding ride from start to finish and the twists will leave the reader breathless even as they flip the pages to see what happens next. I sincerely love this series and can’t help but want more after each book in the Morgan Dane series is done. The author does a masterful job creating stories that have just the right amount of tension, mystery and character development to keep me intrigued and the cases Morgan, Lance and Sharp investigate are intriguing to say the least. The story flows smoothly with a quick pace right from the first page. I loved how the characters continue to evolve with each book and I lov the dynamic Morgan has with her family, Lance and Sharp. Since the first book when we met these three characters, I loved how they just clicked together and the sparks between Lance and Morgan was so much fun to watch, especially with her three kids and her mourning the loss of her husband.SECRETS NEVER DIE is a wild ride from start to finish with an ending that left me reeling. The killer shocked me when I finally found out in the last chapter and left my jaw on the ground. The reader gets a few hints but it’s like the author teases you into thinking its someone when in fact it is someone you really didn’t expect. That right there made me glued to the pages till the very end. I just could not put this book down. Ms. Leigh does a perfect job in keeping her readers attention with her latest installment in the series and its one series I highly recommend you read from the beginning in Say Your Sorry and I can’t wait to see where she goes next in the series for Morgan, Lance and Sharp. I look forward to reading more book in the series in the future. This is an objective review and not an endorsement

Perfect
This is book 5 in a 6 book series and even if you read it without the other 4, you would love it. The characters do not falter from the other 4 but stand on their own in each book. This has a great story that is something that could happen to stop many of us. It is wonderful. Off to read the next

Another page Turner, non stop.
I dont know how she does it, if I did I'd write one too. I've read her books non stop for hours. She is an amazing woman who has never kept me so buried in a mystery. I cant wait to read the next one, problem, I'll miss the characters from these 3 books. Kudos to you and your stories.

Another great book in this series.
Another page turner, full of action, intrigue and drama. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I could not put this book down as I could not figure out who the culprit was until the end. I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Nice one
Even though the description of the killer is given at the start, the suspense about their identity stays until the very end. I like how the author makes sure to incorporate characters' personal growth in the plotline, very much like real life. Just what I needed to make my pandemic bearable.
