Walnut Hollow Professional Hot Knife for Cutting & Carving Foam Making Stencils and Cutting Vinyl & Plastic

This little hot knife sure did the trick even one some thicker foam. I purchased this hot knife to carve out a foam jack o lantern, and it worked great! Heated up relatively fast, the handle itself didn't heat up too much while holding it. It cuts smoothly and the blades that come with it are sharp, and easy to screw on/off. I love that the knife comes with it's own stand as well, helps keeps the work place from burning down lol.

I had never tried to carve a foam pumpkin before (or used a hot knife) and it worked great! I loved everything mentioned above. My dislike is not even really about the knife, but the blades included. They are perfect for everything but very precise carving and I was only able to carve openings as wide as the blade or larger because the foam of the pumpkin is so thick it has to reach the widest point to make it all the way through. So, that is pretty specific to this project.Great knife! Fun project!

It does what it says it will. Gets very hot fast and cut through my craft pumpkins with ease. The blade did seem to loosen as I was using it which was frustrating because I needed to have pliers near by to tighten it as I went along since the tip gets so hot. The base also gets really warm the closer to metal wand. So it made it a little more difficult for tight cuts since I had to hold it so high up on the handle. But for the price, I can't be too mad at it. My pumpkins came out great just took a little more finesse.

The plastic nut and bolt set which anchors the toilet seat somehow got fused together. I tried wd-40 specialist solution but because it was fused, didn’t loosen up. I tried sawing chunks off with my steak knife. It worked somewhat, but id be there till Christmas. I needed a faster solution. The awkward angle under the side of toilet made it impossible to get a hacksaw or anything bulky in that space. So I figured why not use a hot knife. It worked! Instructions say let the knife do the work and don’t force. I admittedly didn’t follow that rule to a tee. I did do a cutting motion on the pieces. It took about an hour or so, with cramping and pain in my knees. But I powered through and the bolt broke free. I was able to remove those pesky pieces and replace them. The con is that the knife gets so hot it smells like fire and whatever it burns through will leave dark burn marks on the blade. The cord is only 2.5 ft short the most. All in all, it did the job and I’m at this price point, I’ll keep it in my tool arsenal. The pics show what the nut and bolt should look like, versus it fused onto the toilet, and the end result.

I selected this one out of many available because of the riveted blades. The others have a blade held in with a friction lock nut type arrangement and I have had problems with blades like these coming loose on exacto knives. This tool works fine but it is under powered at only 25 watts. I tried to cut out the bottom of a clear plastic tote and it struggled to penetrate the plastic. My next project is installing a filter on my truck heater by cutting out an area where an optional filter goes. I don't know how thick that plastic is but I suspect it is thin abs.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to converting rubber stamps to cling foam mounted stamps. After much research I chose to purchase this HotKnife based on reviews and cost. I also watched some YouTube videos using this particular model. All that research has paid off because I love this tool!It heats up quickly. I would say in less than three minutes even though the instructions say to wait five. It slices through the EZ mount cling foam like butter. I've used it on some pretty complicated rubber stamps that have a lot of twists and turns. After doing 40+ stamps I've yet to mess up a single one! It's that easy to use.I will say the stand is a little wonky and I've managed to knock it over a lot. It's probably just a little too light for the weight of the HotKnife. But that is literally my only complaint about this tool. It has a couple of extra blades so I'm set for awhile. From what I've seen it's pretty easy to find replacement blades.I did notice that in the questions there was some speculation as to whether the HotKnife would cut through the red rubber that many of the older rubber stamps are made with and some of the new ones too. I'm happy to report that I had no problem with that, and I highly recommend using this HotKnife if you are converting your rubber stamps or creating new cling foam mounted stamps.All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and I would definitely buy this again if I had to do over.

I purchased this particular hot knife because the reviews were good.I received a defective knife. It worked for a few minutes, but then it started to smoke, so I shut it off.Sometimes, defective items get sent; it happens.I ordered a replacement, the replacement works great, just as it should..

The package is reasonably priced. It would be ideal for a better chucking type for either standard blades and or a means to lock provided blade threaded insert to the handle. Everything seemed fine until after it had been left to preheat for the instructed 5 minutes. The base handle was so hot it was not possible to handle for any amount of time. It may be a fluke but reading through past reviews it seems more frequent than would be acceptable. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN FIRST USING DEVICE!! Good news is you should know pretty quickly if yours is defective.
