... a wall so I know what's important in a good wall mount
I've mounted quite a few TV's to a wall so I know what's important in a good wall mount. In all cases, the wider the better while still keeping inside the width of the actual TV that you are mounting. That way you are guaranteed to hit the maximum number of studs while still allowing you some flexibility to center the TV on a wall, for example. This mount is almost three feet wide so you're guaranteed to hit at least two studs with both the top and bottom holes. The last thing you want to do is mount a $1,000 TV to plasterboard! I've seen poorly mounted TV's fall off the wall and it's never a pretty picture! I mounted a 55" Samsung TV using this mount. What I really love about it is the base is one single piece part. No bolting halves together making the mount flimsy, harder to keep things square and the possibility of the joint being right in front of a stud. The built-in level is okay in a pinch but I still prefer using a longer professional level. This mount is made out of heavier gage steel than most and comes with a 220 pound rating, which I believe is important considering the price of the TV I'm mounting and how much easier it is to install than the cheap multi-piece assemblies. I used this mount for a 55" TV went in my bedroom so it was important for the TV to be mounted as close to the ceiling as possible to prevent neck strain while watching it in bed - Just like they mount them in the hospitals. With it mounted right up next to the ceiling it was very important that it would allow the TV to tilt from the wall so that it could be viewed down at the bed level without any ambient light reflections producing glare off the TV screen. The 15 degree tilt was almost perfect for this but 20 degrees would have even been slightly better, so if you're mounting a TV near the ceiling make sure that the mount has tilt capability. Not only is this mount extra heavy duty but it was one of the easiest mounts that I've ever used to install. Spend a few extra dollars to get a high quality mount like this and you will save a lot of extra time, frustration and screaming naughty words by buying some cheap piece of crap! You can't go wrong with this one!

Excellent product but what's shown is not what was delivered
I would have probably given this a 5 star review if I was delivered what was shown or that I had been charged the price for the model I received.Pros1. Excellent price2. Sturdy construction3. Easy to mount the wall plate to outer studs, across 3 studsCons1. The mounting arms don’t match the description – no safety latch. It uses screws to lock behind the bottom lip of the wall plate.2. Built-in level is pure junk.Addressing the cons first. The locking latch would have made my life way easier, but it’s not the end of the world. Use a LONG Phillip’s head screwdriver. While the instructions seemed incomplete and generic, it’s a relatively intuitive process to hang the plate and install the arm mounts. I ended up using the screws that were in the back of my TV. The built-in level is not accurate which is noted repeatedly in the reviews. Minor issue. I used my own level. The TV mounts close to the wall, so be mindful to plug in cables and tighten the knobs prior to hanging. There are cheaper mounting solutions, but most aren’t as wide as this one. This is a very solid bracket and once hung, you can easily see that. Again, the width makes it easy to install across 3 studs width so that you get the TV centered.Despite the criticism, this is a terrific product but bothersome that the company continues to deliver the mounting kit with safety screws as opposed to the advertised safety latch.Update: I have now bought FOUR of these. The first go round must have been tougher than I remember. I have mounted 3 additional TVs in my house and the installation took no more than 15 minutes for any of them.

Great mount for a great price!
I recently bought a 55" LG and needed a wall mount for it. A friend of mine told me to check out Amazon as the prices for the mounts were way better than store bought. After doing some research, I ended up deciding on the Mount-It! Universal because it would fit my TV, the price was great and the back plate was one peice (I saw quite a few with a 2 piece back plate and both had to be leveled and mounted seperately ; looked like a hassle). I did see the one review that mentioned it was difficult to reach the knobs to adjust the tilt, but that wasn't a concern of mine because once I have it up, I don't see the need to ever have to tilt it on a regular basis.Ordered the mount, it was delivered very quickly and it was very simple to mount on the wall. The only thing I did was replace the lag bolts as all of my friends with large flat screens recommended that. Cheap to buy 6, so why not take some advice that multiple people gave me? Found the studs, drilled the pilot holes and cranked the lag bolts in. a long level helped me get it straight. Brackets were very easy to install on the back of the TV. Lifting the TV up off it's original swivel base was probably the hardest part of it all. And that wasn't really that difficult. Top of the brackets fit right onto the mount, the locking screws underneath were easy to tighten and I could reach the knobs to loosen them to get the right angle I wanted and then tighten again. Locking screws were a little tighter fit to get to than the knobs (only because it was less than an inch from the wall), but those are locked and I don't ever have to deal with them unless I take the TV down, which I don't plan on anytime soon. Cables fit with no problem in the back without any angled adapters. I had tilted the TV up as much as it would go and I could see the connections with no issues. Once it was all plugged in, I tilted it forward, locked the knobs and moved my entertainment center back against the wall.I would definitely recommend this mount to anyone as it was affordable, well built, easy to install and is rock solid when installed properly.
