It needs to be very tight so it won't slip. Otherwise, it will not hold anything heavy. **Q: Would this hold weight of baby clothes on hangers? Want to use in closet of 1 yr old's bedroom.** A: The rod itself should have no problem holding the weight. However, there may be a problem with enough spring tension (against sheet rock, for example) to hold the weight. If the spring tension does not hold weight, short of adding brackets you might consider placing a couple of small finishing nails or small screws underneath the rubber end cap at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions to prevent them from sliding down the wall. **Q: Do u sell the plastic end covers separately** A: I have used several size tension rods in my life and have never found the plastic end covers sold separately. Perhaps the internet could help you. Or you may have to buy one rod somewhere and just use the end. Sorry I could not be more helpful. **Q: Do you install these by simply compressing/releasing the spring? I'm looking for rods that can be easily put up and taken down in moments** A: YESSS super simple and fast.
