Spicy but not overpowering

I am dumbfounded with all the great reviews of this sauce. Got a bottle and was so excited to try it but ended up throwing the entire bottle in the trash. First sniff I knew something was wrong as it smelled like a super sweet cocktail sauce even though it says "low calorie" on the bottle. Sure, low calorie if you don't count the fact that it's full of High Fructose Corn Syrup! Sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and corn syrup are the 3rd, 4th, and 5th ingredients. Add to the the fact that tomato is first, and horseradish is 6th, and you get basically a super sweet thin cocktail sauce, which I can tell you does NOT go well with steak. If you think that sounds like a good combo then save yourself a bunch of money and just buy cocktail sauce and add a bunch of sugar and a little water.

I was a little skeptical at "first taste" when this arrived, as there was a slight presence of anchovies when tasted by itself. But I had some really great filet minion's I just happened to bring home that day, so out came the grill that evening. WOW, was this stuff just perfect. Perfect steaks & perfect sauce, what more could a man want? I'll always make sure there are 2 bottles in the fridge (suggested storage even before opening). Everyone really loved this Steak Sauce.

Definitely not a steak sauce - it tastes like a cocktail sauce, however as a cocktail sauce it’s rather good! Literally inspired me to get some shrimps to make some shrimp cocktail!Update*** - on steak the taste changes quite a bit and is rather enjoyable. I’m updating my review to 4 stars rather than 3. Decent sauce but not the best!

The only better thing than eating this sauce next to a steak on our dining room table is eating this sauce next to the steak served at Peter Luger's dining room table. Mostly because I don't have to do the work. But also because their steaks are a wee bit better. Even if I won't admit that fact to my kids. Yeah, it's THAT good. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation at the Brooklyn location as a special treat. Order their traditional steaks, plus highly recommend the wedge salad and bacon slabs for starters, German hash as a side, and ice cream Sundae for dessert (extra fudge on the side). and yes, for those other times in your own dining room kitchen, there's this sauce.

Although this was packed well in bubble wrap it was suppose to be refrigerated as stated on bottle even before opening it.Please be careful in packing next time
