Review: Personal PA System That is Excellent and Affordable! - I've recently started taking voice/stage lessons and I wanted to have a basic PA setup for practicing at home. Having your guitar and voice amplified allows you to practice in a way that is more like what you experience on stage! So I began researching what are sometimes referred to as "Personal PAs". I wanted something small, compact and simple to set up. And I wanted decent sound with some respectable volume. After rejecting more expensive solutions and also those that contained multiple components (amp, speakers, etc.) I decided to purchase the Behringer B205D. I love this PA!! 5 stars all the way! If your needs are like mine you will love this unit. I won't list all the features as they are described on this page and the other reviews provide lots of this discussion as well. But I will say I have successfully performed in class using a mic and my guitar plugged in. The sound was clean and nice and loud! The unit is super easy to carry around and set up in case you want to do more than practice at home. Next week I will be using this at an open mic at a local pub. Also worth noting is the seller I dealt with was simply outstanding! They are US Sound & Light (http://www.desertcart.com/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&isdesertcartFulfilled=0&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&isCBA=&seller=A2I3KI79ZQR6C). I had problems with my first unit and they exchanged it for me and even reimbursed me for the return shipping when desertcart would not! This is a very high-quality company to do business with and I highly recommend purchasing from them whenever possible!! Just a few more things worth mentioning. First, as I researched this online it appears Behringer has a bit of a reputation for producing "knock-offs" of other products. In this case, it certainly appears this unit is very similar to the Mackie SRM150 (which is more than $100 more expensive). I have no idea if the overall quality of these two units is comparable but interesting to know this anyway. Second, my initial unit was defective. It could only handle the volume being turned up to about 35% before the amp starting "cutting out". I sent it back and got another one from the seller. The second unit was better but it had some annoying vibrations/buzzing when you would hit certain notes. In this case however, I was able to fix it myself by partially disassembling the unit, adding a paper gasket and tightening several loose screws. It was easy to do and now I'm confident if any vibrations recur I can fix them myself. This experience of "two-in-a-row" with problems makes it a little harder for me to recommend this without reservations, however, I am so happy with the unit now that I could not honestly give it less than 5 stars! Finally, as I am getting used to this unit I am already seeing some possible limitations. This is not the product's fault but something you may wish to consider as you decide if this unit is for you. I am thinking 2 inputs is not enough. As long as its just you and your guitar (or uke or banjo or whatever) this unit works great. But as soon as you want to do a duet you'll need something more because you only have the two inputs. I'd love to see this unit in a version offering four inputs with two of them set up to handle either guitar or mic. And I'd love to have EQ for each individual input rather than for the mixed signal. Yeah, I know I'm talking about a more advanced unit but you should consider these factors when you make your decision. All in all, I am very happy with this PA!
Review: Juciest Super Bang for my Buck - I do presentations a lot and other times need a mini combo to hook an instrument and just enjoy, I did a little bit of research online but found two products that could meet this need, one was the fender and the other was this behringer eurolive B205D, I decided to go for this because it was about half the cost and I felt it's also a good brand. I must state categorically that this was the best sub $200 I spent in 2010. My God, this stuff blows me sky high, men it has the juciest, cleanest, punchiest power of any mini combo that I have even seen. It compares even to my Boss Speakers in output quality. I used it with a wireless microphone for presentations and the audio quality is the best I have ever heard my self. I hooked it up with my iPod and it's like i had a gig ready to go, I even hooked it up also with my musical instrument and the sound was even better. The sound also is so loaded with sweetness at times I wonder how such high decibels can be bursting forth from such a small device. The housing also is so good it looks like what will bounce around with no fear of damage for many years to come. Also the item just weighs at a basic 3.2kilos, you can even carry it with you anywhere and no one will even know you are carrying anything of such. The other reviewer said something about distorts when the volume exceeds the middle, I think he needs to check his hardware properly because this stuff does not distort the sounds in anyway that I have seen even though I do not raise the volume knob too high because the sound may become unbearably loud as neighbors may begin to complain. Everyone who has seen it in action all want to buy it off me right away or want to order theirs immediately. It will be also a fun tool for the kids and family in general without the fear of the youger ones spoiling it or swallowing any small parts. It's perfect for what you may want it for. You can buy as many as you like and link them up with a pair of xlr cables, as a link port is provided at the rear. I tell you, if you are not sure if you really want to buy this I tell you just do it, it will be the best investment you'll done in a while. I just love the product and I give behringer 10 stars of an excellently conceived product.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there some type of carrying case available for the unit?**
A: Not that we could find. There were a couple of soft cases at about $80+ each that claimed to fit them. But there was nothing nothing that would suit our purpose - we needed something pretty robust because we ship our units to events with UPS Ground. We purchased four of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBY2EIO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 and added a quick and dirty customized foam interior to protect the speaker and accommodate the wireless mike system and amp connecting cable etc. We found that we should have added reinforcing tape around the top of the cases to cover and strengthen the hinge areas. We actually use the amp within the box with the box on its side and the lid open. One of the staff picked a unit up by grabbing the lid and it caused the case to split slightly down the side of the hinge. Heavy-duty reinforced tape fixed the problem and we subsequently added the reinforcement to all the boxes. So far so good. The units have survived a return UPS trip from NH to TX and look to be in good shape and the amps etc. were all in good shape. For shipping we tape around the body so the units can't come open. Been very impressed by the speaker system itself. More than adequate for presentations in 200+ seat rooms. In a 100+ seater we have to drop the volume right down.

**Q: How would I hook up a hard disc recorder for recording thru this?**
A: You have to do that through the rear, all the connections from the front is input based, so that you can connect your line in, be it a microphone, iPod or media player but from the rear, there are two cannon connections, one is designed as a line-out and the second is for looping through a couple of them together, just incase you have a few units to be used all at the same time. So whichever device, you'll love to capture the audio output with, just make sure it has a cable interface with a basic 3pin cannon plug connector, then you connect it to the line-out (not the second connector as that is an input only for looping multiple units together) then the signal will be recorded sweetly. If you are using multiple speakers maybe like 3 or 4 units looped together, then you must connect the recorder to the last speaker box in the loop as the line-out will be free for tethering any recorder. I hope this helps!

**Q: Can this be easily used in Australia with 240v power supply? What would I need?**
A: http://www.behringer.com/assets/B205D_P0957_OI_EN_ES_FR.pdfOn page 19 of this manual, Australia/UK is listed under voltages. I'm not sure if there is a single global model, or whether a unit you buy in the US would have a different power supply than one purchased in Australia.

**Q: Can I use a electric Bass Guitar**
A: You can plug anything you'd like into re 205, but I wouldn't recommend using it for a bass amp. Could be used as a low power practice amp.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best little powered monitor around!
*by T***R on February 25, 2013*

I've owned three of these for about 2 years and just bought a fourth. For about a year, I played bass with a vocalist and guitar player so we each had our own monitor, albeit run out of the common single monitor out from the mixing desk. Always worked flawlessly, never had a serious issue. Now I participate in a hard-rocking open mic and we are using these as stage monitors behind two Yamaha 15" cabs with horns and one of those monolithic mixing/amp monsters. They are loud enough that the singer can always hear enough of the vocals, even when the band is really cranking out. One of the keyboard players uses one of the monitors to hear himself play and sing and is very happy with the result. While these monitors don't have a lot of bass response, enough bleeds through from the FOH that it's not an issue, and it's so out of phase by the time it gets back through the system that feedback is not an issue. The new fourth monitor will be used for the drummer, who has been complaining that he has problems hearing the keyboards and vocalists. He's positioned in the back of the room, and, well, it is a drum kit that he's banging away on, isn't it? At any rate, I used to use a 10" wedge with a horn for him with an auxiliary amp, but there just isn't enough room anymore(up to 3 guitar players/singers plus two keyboard guys, bass, drums and congas in a 20'x20' space!). Hopefully this will add enough to the existing stage volume from the other monitors that his complaints will cease. About the only drawback I see in these monitors is the line/mic pushbutton at the back of the unit. This affects the connectors on the back and is very easy to toggle while setting up, which causes the downstream monitor to seemingly not work. The other issue I have is the minimal documentation. It reads like someone from the marketing department wrote it, and they never used it in a live situation. Niggling details, but important when every second counts before showtime. Other than these two minor details, I love this little box!
