Installed the lights and tested them without and with resistors. Works fine either way, except resistors getting hot. Are they necessary?

I think that if they come complete with headlights then you need to install them

Does it show on the dash that tail lights are out are not?

I didn't own the car long enough for the LED lights to burn, but you will likely get a notification on your On-Board Computer (OBC) dash if one of them isn't working. These lights are low draw current. They come with a series of resistances to trick the OBC. If one of the lights burns, most likely it will show on your OBC. That is how regular lightbulbs work in the car. When the OBC detects an interruption in the flow or LOW CURRENT DRAW, it triggers the message on the OBC. On a different note, these looked fantastic on my old SUV! I loved them! I went with the clear finish instead of the smoke. I just loved the way they looked at night. When I bought the next SUV, I tried to find a replacement for the rear lights like these but, the SUV is a newer model and they don't make them this cool looking.

Sweet New look.

They look great. The back end of my truck looks like a whole new truck. Love the look and the easy install. It took me about 30 minutes and the is only because before putting the light in I chose to clean and wax the area behind it.

Defective product, not great service

The wires were loose on the driver's side taillight unit so it didn't work. I requested a refund. On the day it was supposed to arrive I found out it had never been shipped. Not great product. Not great service. Good thing Amazon has money-back guarantees.
