How hard is to pull the two halves apart?

You can separate the halves with your hands. They are friction fit together but not under any significant pressure. I use them for my two Z axis screws on my 3D printer (motors at bottom) which are always under pressure from the X carriage and they have never separated after 1000+/- prints.

these actually grip the lead screw right? because the stock spring style, my lead screw crawls up it inside, causing binding, due to poor QC thx

I had problem with mine slipping, No amount of tightening that screw would cause it to hold fast. Resolved with a few drops of CA glue.
