Easy and helpful read on recognizing negative talk and changing your ways
After the 2020 year of negativity wore me thin, I had anxiety, and angry all the time, felt under appreciated, and overwhelmed that I was sick of feeling this way by November. I wanted to stop thinking so negatively and wanted to think more positive. Keyword is the desire or want to stop thinking negative. This is the only way I believe it works. You have to WANT to change your way of thinking. It won't happen overnight, it won't happen unless you want to change. It's a lot of work, and we all have our low days, so don't expect immediate results. With that being said, I bought a bunch of different positive thinking books. This is one of them.I have to say reading this book opened my eyes to the recognizing the negativity thrown around so much. I can't believe how much negative thoughts are around when you aren't even thinking about it. There are sections of this book that helped me understand why mother is the way she is - even going to multiple therapy sessions over many years, never taught me as much as this book has. It is well written that I couldn't put it down after I started it, finished in a day and 1/2 with a full time job.The best part is learning why I'm negative and how just hearing it in the back of your mind, can influence the negativity to the forefront. It explains the different stages of negativity and I can see why my mother would be as negative as she is, but she lacks the desire to change her thoughts. I'm one of those daughters that doesn't want to be like her mother, ends up being her mother anyway. This is one of those books that teaches you how to identify and how to change it. I bought a copy for my sister. I also gave one to my daughter. I don't want her to become like my negative self (that I'm working very hard to change).I also bought Emotional Blackmail by Susan Forward Phd, and it is pretty good read as well. I bought Positive Thinking by Amelia Torres - horrible read. Not for me. The book is 77 pages long and it has taken me over 4 months to get through it. I'm sure it works for some, but I'm not one of them. Maybe I will get through my other books, and come back to this one.I also bought the other book - What to say when you talk to yourself by Shad Helmstetter, PhD, which I haven't read yet. I'm trying to stay in one book at a time. As an added bonus in one of the reviews I read for one of these many positivity books I bought, to get a book, Let That Sh*t Go by Monica Sweeney, cute little journal to write in for when you are trying to find your happy place. She has 2 others that I also invested in, which I also recommend.I'm just trying to do my part to make 2021 better, by investing in myself. Couldn't we all use a little more positivity in our lives?

Incredibly Simple
In this short book Shad Helmstetter presents the solution to negative self talk in concise, simple terms.Being simple doesn’t mean it’s necessarily easy. The author does a great job explaining neuroplasticity and how the brain works. He shows the reader how to assess and replace the negative with the positive.I like the book and find the suggestions easy to understand.

Straight to the point
Straight to the point and helpful. I can see myself actually putting these steps into practice, and I didn't have to read a really long drawn-out book to get the tools that I need.

Simplistic written, just some general info that can be summarized in one page
Generally a good read for someone who is a "beginner" in the process of negative thinking.. although I do not agree that you can change everything just by forcing yourself to think differently. There are a lot of things that are involved, like doing the things you want to receive for others first, so they will come back to you multiplied, or humbling yourself. When you say to yourself "I am great" "I can achieve anything", instead of negative thinking, it's just like you "lie" to yourself, and not recognize the reality where you are at the moment. Start with what you have, and build up. You cannot cover your situation just by saying "i am great, i can do anything". It doesn't always work that way.And besides that, there is a short story about a person who is falling off a 100 story building, and frightened, screaming, when he reach the 50th floor, someone gets off the window and say "Don't worry! Just catch onto yourself!" - that is why I think the information in this book is limited, and written just to fulfill many pages, so you can sell it as a book, and not an article. But maybe for someone else can work in a better way

Love this book.b
This was an excellent book so I turned around and bought a few more. I am a Christian and was not sure if the author was because nothing was mentioned about Jesus then how much to the end of the book he talks about Romans 12:2 or you can transform your mind and he said that's the most beloved person for him and his life from the Bible. I'm so grateful that he put that in the book. Because I know that there's life and death in the power of the tongue and this helps me become a better Christian That's why I totally completely and fully excited that I have these books in my Kindle library. God bless you doctor Shad Helmstetter for all your marvelous works on these books and what God has done in your life. God bless you as you continue to progress in your Christianity and in helping others. Your sister in Christ Sharon
