My son is 13 years old and wears a 14-16. The XL was gigantic so I returned and ordered the Large. The Large was still too big so I returned and assumed the medium would be perfect. No way. Suddenly they are cut to fit the size the chart shows and the medium fit like the size 10 it says it would fit. Like an 8-10. In fact, the pants were made differently, too. The medium has an adjustable waist, unlike the large sizes. It seemed to us that the large fit like an XL and the XL fit like XXL and the medium seemed to fit true to size, which was way too small for us. Anyways, needless to say all three are being returned. ### ⭐ Beware - pockets not at all as described! *by F***C on Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2019* If you're buying for pocket features - don't buy. Amazon describes these shorts as having the following "multiple handy features: " (1) a single-zip closure security pocket - FACT CHECK: there were NO zip closure pockets; (2) side pockets with hook and loop closures - FACT CHECK: side pockets had NO closure at all; and (3) mesh pocket bags for ultimate efficiency and convenience - FACT CHECK: there was NO mesh on these shorts at all, let alone in the pockets. We bought these specifically for the pocket security features (for traveling), but turned out to be no better than less expensive convertible pants. Will return these and keep looking. See pictures of each of the 3 pockets on these pants. My son used to wear his expensive Boy Scout pants on all outings. Thank goodness my friends told me about these. Color is acceptable and they are quick to dry. I love how there is Velcro on the bottom of the pant leg. I did not have to hem these. My son took these hiking in the Sierras for a week and they survived for more adventures!
