Q: How "fresh" are these seeds? I have read that old seeds can take up to a year to sprout with some to most never sprouting.

these seeds have never sprouted. I planted them first then in-between them I planted some blue and dwarf red morning glories. Now the morning glories, they bloomed and are coming back already this year. I just threw the passion flower seeds away. They are no good.

The Passion Flower vine produces the Passion Flower, which in turn produces the Passion Fruit. Some varieties are edible and some are not. Hope this helps.

Q: will this grow in hot humid saipan/guam/zone 11b-12?

If it's a tropical biome then the plant should do fine, you may need to plant a sacraficial plant to provide it with shade, but that's when you plant it in the ground, when you pot it give in a loose medium to be planted in like a cactus soil mix. This will allow for proper drainage of water. Once it is established bump up to a larger pot with a denser medium. I live in Arizona and have a greenhouse so it gets pretty hot and humid inside of the structure. I think you should do fine. Also, test the seeds and make sure they are viable. To do that fill a cup with water, sift out the seeds that sink (those are the good seeds) from the ones that float (those are the seeds that likely lack an embryo and are not viable)
