Instead, right after I installed them, the tab broke as soon as I tried to open a cupboard door (forgetting I'd installed them.) I'm really bummed and should have sent them back, but I waited too long to install them (past the 30 day return window).Update: Almost immediately after I posted a one-star review, the company contacted me to let me know they were sorry my product didn't work. They issued a refund, which I appreciate. I'm updating my review to two stars to reflect the excellent and fast customer service.Update 5/13/2016: After a two-star review, the company sent me a fresh set of these magnetic locks to reinstall and try again. We reinstalled them and tested them with video, which I have uploaded. I'm increasing my review by a star because my 3 year old couldn't open the door, but they still came off when I opened the door and when my husband opened the door. We think the adhesive just isn't strong enough for the latch.Please take a look at the video and assess the locks on your own!5/13/2016, one hour later; the company has contacted me again to let me know that I'm supposed to wait 24 hours for the glue on the stickers to set. This is what we did the first time we installed these locks and had the same results. The company had previously told me that my low-star review was hurting their sales so I simply took the video and uploaded it as soon as we could when the locks arrived so that customers can get a demonstration of our experiences. While we will install the locks another time to be completely fair to the company, we are concerned that the company is not accepting our review and wonder how many other reviewers they may have hounded for more stars. Again, we will reinstall the locks and test them again after 24 hours, just as we had done the first time. It is always my goal in my reviews to be fair to sellers and honest so that buyers can make good decisions about where they spend their hard-earned money.5/21/2016: I waited 24 hours after installation to test the 3M tape again. The tape ripped in half. I should be fair and say that when I'm in the kitchen, I'm a bull in a china shop--I move quickly and with a lot of strength, so when I open cupboards, I'm not delicate or slow. And we put this on a cupboard that I access maybe a dozen times a day. What we are going to do next is remove the 3M sticker and just super-glue the latch onto the cupboard. Our biggest issue with this product stems from the 3M tape just not being durable enough for our use. The magnetic functionality does work well and, if it weren't for the 3M sticker, this would be a 5-star product. Also, if you remember to use the magnetic key every time, you obviously won't have any problems breaking the sticker. Put mine in for two reasons. Number one is we have our first grandson coming in 6 weeks, and getting a head start on baby-proofing is never a bad thing. But on a more immediate need, I have a cat, one of whose main goals in life is to see how many times he can prove he's smarter than me (or the wife!) On many levels he's proven himself to be successful, but I was determined that he was not going to beat me here, so I bought these locks to keep him out of the cabinets where I keep his treats. I figure if I can beat a very determined, wily, strong cat, then a baby has no shot. I put the treats down where he knows they're in there, install the lock on the cabinet and on an adjoining one, and keep the cat (and his equally determined friend, my daughter's visiting cat) away for the required 24 hours while the glue holding the lock sets up. The next day the cats know exactly where the treats are, and head straight for the cabinet. But no amount of effort by either one of them can get the cabinet door open, and they give up. I pull on the door with a goodly amount of effort that I think a baby might use, and I can't get the door to budge either. But the magnet keys work very easily, and the doors open right up. One slight problem with the first batch I ordered. Two of the locks had a problem with the spring working the hooks in that the hooks would not deploy easily as they should. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me out an entire new set, so great customer service from this company. We have drawers in the bathroom that my daughter thinks are filled with goodies for her, which are actually just beauty supplies. The stinker waits until someone is sitting on the toilet so she can sneak attack the drawers (which cannot be reached by the person sitting on the toilet) ... And if you lock her out of the bathroom, she screams bloody murder the whole time. Going to the bathroom at my house became a nightmare after she discovered the drawers. So I bought these since we live in an apartment, and they have significantly improved our quality of life. They work exactly how they should. We are official able to use the toilet in peace again.The only downside of this item is the price. If these things weren't so expensive, I'd buy more of them and do our whole kitchen... $5 per cabinet is a little excessive in comparison with other cabinet locks on the market... But these do the job and do it well. As for the kitchen, we bought a $50 baby gate instead.I saw someone said their baby pulled the drawer open with these. That made me a little cautious, but I decided to get them since returns would be so easy with Amazon prime. I don't know what kind of super baby that guy has, but these are so strong that both my one year old girl and myself cannot pull those drawers open.
