More Than We Can Tell

If you enjoy books exploring family issues and young love then you'll want to give this one a read.
After reading Letters to the Lost, I found myself NEEDING Rev's story. He was such a great yet mysterious character. This is exactly the story that Rev needed all along. As a result of his past, Rev is viewed as a weirdo and definitely an outcast at school. Even his closest friend doesn't understand him. and lately, he's been keeping secrets.Emma Blue would rather spend her days online playing or creating games. She is a gamer like her father and soon her online world and real life meet up in a way that could have disastrous results.Rev and Emma meet accidentally, but they both recognize something in the other. On the surface, the two never should've worked, but somehow they did.I really loved the way the author included Declan and Juliette from LttL in this story. It was great to re-visit them and to fall in love with them all over again.I love romance. In fact, I demand that the books I read include romance. That being said, the romance was not my favorite part of this story, nor is it what brought me to tears. The most touching part of this book for me was the relationship between Rev and Geoff (his adoptive dad). After the horrible abuse that Rev suffered at the hands of his biological father, the fact that he was able to have a relationship at all with another father-figure is absolutely incredible. The moments between the two of them were definitely the most magical parts of this whole journey. These teens both faced an incredible amount of weighty issues, but the freshness and tenderness of first love gave the story a hopeful feel. If you enjoy books exploring family issues and young love then you'll want to give this one a read. Listed as part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

I LOVE REV!!
Let me just start by saying I read "Letters to the Lost" and loved it. When I was done, I googled to see if there were anything else I could read about these teens. To my surprise, there was a whole other book about Rev who I COMPLETELY fell in love with in the first book. I was so excited to learn more about this character and to grow a little more in love. I bought it immediately at like 2 in the morning. Lol! This book tackles so many things. Physical abuse, mental abuse, online bullying, and threats of meeting people from online. It really covered them well, and eloquently. I LOVED this book, and didn't want it to end. I love Rev's protective and loving side. I love that he is patient and reads people so well without realizing it. I love that he relies on his bible, even through rough times. I love that he is strong, and built but uses it for good. He is great with kids and caring. Has strong morals. There is just so much to love about him.The ONLY thing I would change, is that I WISH we knew more about what happens with Matt. I like to think that he grew so attached to Geoff, Kristin, Dec, and Rev that they adopted him.I was also tickled that you finally learn what Rev is short for. I was curious of that from the first book, so I was very pleased to have found out.Anyway, its a great read with great characters. I recommend reading the books in order. You don't have to, but you will pick up on more if you do. Plus, you get snippets of Juliet and Dec together, and you learn more about Dec's father. They are both WORTH THE READ.

Rev's Story, Finally!
Last year, I read a book called Letters to the Lost. In that novel, there was a boy who always wore a hoodie (for reasons that are later explained). Throughout, he was the calm voice of reason when his friend needed it. This boy stayed with me after I closed the book and refused to let go of my heart. When I heard that he was getting his own book, I was, well, quite happy. And oh my god, you guys. THIS BOOK. I’m glad I waited to read this when I did. After the grief I have been navigating, MORE THAN WE CAN TELL was the cathartic experience I needed.Rev’s story is sensitively told. We learn why he wears hoodies even in the middle of summer, why he obsessively trains in martial arts. However, he is more than his past. He is kind and patient. He likes stories and philosophy and animals. His faith is important to his well being. He’s fiercely loyal to his loved ones.Adopted at a young age by Geoff and Kristin, his parents are beautiful people who are always there for their son. They love him unconditionally, accept him for who he is, and support him through the toughest times. They are some of the best parents in a YA novel. Also at Rev’s side is Declan (from Letters). While I had my issues with him in the past, he has grown and become Rev’s voice of reason. Their friendship is honest and funny, and their understanding of each other is so awesome. This is also Emma’s story. She’s a gamer who’s created her own game but is being harassed by someone online. Her parents’ marriage is unraveling, and she’s constantly lashing out at everyone. At first, I wasn’t sure about her, but as the book moves on, I understand where she’s coming from. She’s hurting; sometimes people who hurt try to drive others away.Their romance takes time to evolve; their chemistry ranges from cute to swoony. I wanted to throw confetti. I wanted to dance. These two together are PERFECT. Color me joyous for Rev and Emma. They had me flipping through the pages and inhaling the book in a day and half. Their first kiss had me internally screaming (I was reading this during a lull at work).I did have some questions that, for all my unabashed happiness for this book, prevented me from full on loving it. I feel like the subplot for Emma’s online harasser wasn’t fully resolved. It’s eluded to near the end, but it’s overshadowed by another subplot involving Emma. This came out of nowhere and left me confused. It felt like an unnecessary attempt for more drama. I could have gone without that. But this is the happily ever after Rev deserves. If Brigid Kemmerer decides she needs to write more books with these characters, yours truly will buy all of them and scream with joy each time.

heavy and very heartbreaking
I recommend you check trigger warnings for this book because it does contain a bit of heavy subjects such as abuse and trauma. But the book captured this perfectly and It really hit hard. The writing in this book is absolutely beautiful and great and I have nothing negative to say in that matter. You really feel for the characters and get attached to them, feel their pain and hear their story. I really recommend this book, you need to read it, if your heart can take a bit of heartbreak.

An amazing read
I read this book before reading Letters to the Lost (without knowing that was supposed to come first). But that didn't detract from my understanding of the book whatsoever, and I immediately went and read Letters to the Lost after this (which is equally as good).I absolutely loved Rev's character, and my heart went out to him throughout the book. I loved that he wasn't your typical high school love interest, yet he was sweet and caring and so relatable.I also liked Emma's character, though a little less than Rev. I liked how the book switched between their points of view, with their lives and plots running parallel to one another. The ending was a huge plot twist and very cleverly done.Overall, I'd definitely recommend this book!

AMAZING BOOK!!!
Everyone has there own issues. Some more than others. It is hard to solve or go through with your own problems without making mistakes but it is harder to understand what others around you are going through without completely breaking down and making the wrong choices. This story not only highlights what every teen faces such as trust issues, stress, depression, bullying and first love. This book is one that helps people see life in a different perspective and helps them to go through with some of the challanges one might be facing. It is an amazing read.
