My feedback about Rome 2014 by Rick Steves
Well, I have not finished the book yet since I just got it, about a few weeks ago. No, I am not a slow reader. Making the time to enjoy this book has been very challenging. It goes to tell you, if you are as busy as I am and love traveling and visiting new places such as Rome, this is definitely the book for you. I must say, what i have read so far, just made me realize, not only how little of Rome i have seen, but also visiting Rome does not have to be pricy or difficult. This is from someone who lived and worked in Italy for over a year. The good news is, I am planning to go back to Rome for a month and visit Rome page by page based on Rick's recommendation. As a worldwide traveler, purchasing this book, was one of the best few well worth investments I have ever done.Thank you.

Gotta have it.
My wife and I took our teenage sons to Rome this summer. We like to plan things well in advance so when we settled on our lodgings we made a list of must see places. Mr. Stevens book on Rome was the perfect tool. His knowledge and great anecdotes make it an enjoyable task. This is a must have item if you are going, or just thinking about it. We had a most excellent time especially when things were pretty much spelled out in this great little book. Keep in mind that plan as you will, you are going to Rome where there are no plans so just go with the flow and keep this book close. Ciao

Great Book
Rick Steves's books have almost become a necessity for me. I used the one for Italy (for going to a bunch of cities) and it turned out great, but a friend is only going to Rome, so this one was great. It's just like the Italy one (with all of the general Italy info), but it only specifically applies to Rome when going into detail. If anyone were going to more than one city, I would suggest getting the book for the entire country, but for one city this is great - it has all of the necessary info and is a lot less bulky, so it's easier to carry around.

Thoroughly enjoyable
This book is very complete and has lots of suggestions and honest information about the many sites to see in Rome. It was difficult to choose what to do with only three days there. However, the book also has lots of "off the beaten path" suggestions for non-first-timers. I especially like the warnings and safety tips he offers. He even includes a packing list and temperature information. Be sure to read the first chapters about the history and traditional society of Rome. Be careful, and have fun!

Most of Rick's recommendations are good but he tends to like some pretty sketchy
Most of Rick's recommendations are good but he tends to like some pretty sketchy, old school restaurants, so be careful. One we ate at, "da Giovanni" was full of tourists who obviously were there because of Rick's recommendation. The food was very mediocre and the atmosphere was depressing. We should have walked out!

Rick Steves' 2014 Guide to Rome
I love Rick's guides because they are absolutely dependable. No need to struggle with muddled directions or inaccurate information. It's up to the minute and has great illustrations. From lodging, restaurants, transportation, and sightseeing to how to pack and, in some circumstances what to wear, the amount of detail is amazing. Don't leave for Rome without it.

Dependable for information
Went to Rome six years ago. Used the then current Rick Steves Rome as my tour guide. It was a life saver. My wife and I knew nothing, and had the best trip of our life. We took three paid tours, but used Rick Steves "Rome" to navigate the city, and saw most everything. Headed back this year, and it was our first purchase. Ii unlike my daughter, am not a Rick Steves groupie, but this one is a must when headed to Europe without a tour leader. This year we are visiting family who lives there every summer, and we will still be using our book, I am sure.
