Very nicely laid out book with a plethora of information
I would especially like to point out the way the book is put together. The colorful pictures are astonishing. It really looks like someone took their time in planning this book out and making sure that it was laid out nicely and easy to follow. I, myself don't know a thing about wines. I have been trying to find one that I would like! It was nice to read all the separate descriptions about the wines, how much alcohol is in each, what type of wine it is and what temperature you should serve the wine at. It was also really nice to see the family setting of photos with pictures of families, kids etc. throughout the book. I am from New York and it was nice to see that CA and NY were both part of this book.

Amazing Depth of Info
This book is one of a kind! I am utterly shocked with the depth of information in it for each winery. It contains all the information that I need to be ready to go and tour all of these wineries! The photos are gorgeous, as well! This book should be a staple in any wine and travel collection. Now if I could only have a copy in print for my coffee table...The thing I think I found most intriguing was how much detail is in the book for each winery. You feel like you know each winery and family after reading about the owners, history, a bit about each one, and what all they are producing. Very impressive wineries have been included from across the country. You can tell that the owners of each winery included are truly passionate about what they do. I absolutely love that and can't wait to go tour them!

If you want to visit some great wineries and vineyards this is the perfect book!!
If you are a true connoisseur of American wines, you will find many things to like about this book. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous, and they bring to life the sometimes remedial text. The table of contents is set up alphabetically, by state, which would come in handy if you were trying to find a winery or vineyard near you. Each section is set up with a brief history of the site, an introduction to the owners and management, contact and visitor information, and a list of the restaurants that sell their wines. Something that differentiates this book from other books about wine is a breakdown of the wines that each winery/vineyard makes, including information such as the length of barrel aging, alcohol percentage, vintage year and even optimal serving temperature. But, it’s really the photographs that bring this book the life. The pictures are so clear you can almost smell the grapes in the air and seeing the winemakers (and their families) will make you want to plan a visit. This book would be the perfect companion to a wine tasting road trip across the US.

Great Guide to Wines!!
I absolutely loved this book as a guide for planning our upcoming vacation, as well as a day trip to a “hidden gem” just a few hours away from our home! The pictures are stunning and show off the gorgeous views we can expect. We are so excited!! I love how the story behind each winery is written. It makes enjoying wine so much more personal when you feel like you know the winemakers. We aren’t yet wine experts – just really excited to see some different places on our trip. So having the guide showing which are the best and what we might enjoy the most at each winery is really helpful. It’s also fun to read about local restaurants that serve the wines we were reading about and will be able to see in action. There are even graphic representations of how much of each type of grape is grown and information about what types of events and tastings are offered. By far the most helpful book for planning our wine tours!

Needs more light...just a little
This is a very useful book for people who are looking for lesser known American vineyards and their wines. The names may be unfamiliar to many, especially non-Americans. The vineyards covered include Pillsbury Wine Company (in Arizona), Shalestone Vineyard, Brooks, Elk Cove Vineyard, Foppiano Vineyards, and many more. The book contains very useful information about the history of the vineyard and a biopic of their owners. It gives information about the location and size of the vineyard, and the wines they make. Although the paper is good and the photographs accompanying every vineyard were well-taken and clearly printed, the quality of the editing and overall production indicates a low-cost publication. Although the title of the book is 'The Hidden Gems of America: Best of the Best Wine of America', the book does not tell us what makes the wines in these vineyards good or what qualifies the named vineyard for inclusion. There is a lot of information about the grapes and the wines and also the manufacturing process, but there are no tasting notes on the wines. Nonetheless, a good guide if you are out looking for new wines - perhaps you can contribute your tasting notes for a revised edition. In the hands of a good editor and a better publisher, this book has the potential to be a five-star book.

Informative!
Highly recommend this book! I like how it's formatted and it's very informative. The photos are enticing as well. Now I'm more interested in visiting the wineries and vineyards that are so beautiful but not really known to public. Great read!
