I've tried the SA brand products, but found the material was really thin, doesn't breathe, and had unfinished edges. The DebriefMe face shield was better, but the material is very slippery and would constantly slide down off my nose. They were also very tight, and fit very closely under the nose so it was hard to breathe.So, I have been frustrated with these products until getting the Palmyth face shield.First, the material is a little heavier than the thin, cheap, stretchy knockoffs. But, it's still lightweight. Next, the material is two-sided, with a smooth outer side, and a ventilated liner side. Third, these fit way better, and stay up over my nose without slipping. Another bonus is that the fit under my nose isn't so tight as to block my nostrils like the other brands. And, they are also kind of absorbent in that they wick sweat. The other brands were really hot and not very breathable. And the best thing is they still block the pollen and dust effectively. I love these- I'm buying more and taking the other ones I own out to the garage to use as filters on my shopvac... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Proved on the Gulf of Mexico (hot, humid, sunny) *by E***T on Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2019* Just tested this by kayaking out on the Gulf, southwest Florida, for four hours, midday, in the summer, blazing sun, with a hat but no sunscreen on my neck or face ... and it worked GREAT! It's very soft, and has small perforations woven into the fabric, so it's surprisingly cool. In fact, once it got soaking wet (which didn't take long with heat at 95 and humidity not far behind), it actually felt cooler than when I kayak without it -- it seemed to work like a big ol' swamp cooler around my neck. I tried wearing it over my nose, but when kayaking hard through heavy surf I need all the oxygen I can get, so I pulled it down just under my nose. Despite a lot of reflection off the water, my neck and face didn't get the slightest bit red. Bottom line: This Palmyth neck gaiter works better than sunscreen or titanium dioxide paste, is much less messy, doesn't need to be reapplied, and has the added bonus of being cooler than bare skin. Great product if you work or play in the sun. ### ⭐⭐ Thick enough for sun protection and stays in position...but *by L***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2020* I am amending my initial review. After four days of use and five washings the neck gaiter has almost totally lost its tendency to leave a bitter taste at the back of my mouth, but it is now loosing the painted American Flag design. It appears as though the design was painted on rather than dyed and looks like this is the beginning of complete deterioration of the overall appearance.I like the advertised 60 SPF yet porous enough to allow it to breath, Also, it stays in place and it dries fast. I use it for hiking and protection from the Arizona sun. I've used it only three times and I've been happier with it than two thinner ones I have. The one concern I have is that after about a half hour of breathing through it a sour taste develops at the back of my mouth, even after three washings.
