Morphy Richards Kitchen Bin with Infrared Sensor Technology, Round, Silver, 50 litre

My previous sensor bin died so needed a replacement (it wasn't a Morphy Richards) sothought I would give this make a try. Haven't had it long but having had one before knew what to expect. For a start the battery compartment lid fits better on this than my previous bin...we lost the batteries into the bin on several occassions before! So that's a plus. However this bin does not have a plastic inner bin so thats a minus as it gets grotty in the bottom of a bin and seems more hygenic to have a removable liner. So we've used the liner from my previous bin! Sorted! I also ..like prevous reviewer...have a problem if bin is not angled correctly with it opening as you walk past...but now know how to turn it slightly away from centre of kitchen and it's fine now. If this had a plastic bin liner I would have given it 5 stars. It's a great bin. Well made, looks good and easy to use.

Very disappointing, given as a Christmas gift and by the 16th Jan the sensory on the door lid had stopped working so it won’t operate automatically. Also it was missing the ring to hold the bag in.

Received totally different bin lid than shown in the image. Got only open option, there is no close option as described.

Just received this today, but am ready to give my opinion on it.Ordered the 50l, round model in chrome.It does not match the images of the product.There is no manual open/close button as shown. You cannot open/close this manually at all, the instructions say the mechanism will be damaged if you do.You can only operate with sensor.The sensor needs you to be very near it to activate.Lid opens quickly.But also closes very quickly too.Wavering your hands over the lid, like you are emptying, say, a plate or whatever, the lid closes too quickly and doesn't detect you are still there.You have to have one hand very close to the sensor to keep it open - not practical really.The lid seems flimsy, when closed it doesn't close with a good seal all around, pressing gently on the lid shows it wobbles side to side, as if it's not sitting flush to the body.The supplies bags don't fit, length is fine, diameter too small.The bag retaining ring also feels flimsy.Good that it takes AA batteries - more practical.Wide opening mouth when open.Tall and slim diameter - perfect for fitting into a cornerMetal body is shiny chrome and feels sturdy.It was really well packaged.I paid 70 for this which, given it is not as shown in the pictures, the inability to manually override the sensor to keep it open for longer - which the pictures show an open/close button, and the fact it shuts too soon and doesn't detect hand presence over the mouth of the bin, and the supplied bags too small, and the flimsy retaining ring.Not as good a value as I was hoping for and cannot give it more than 2 stars overall.
